Default Best cutting system??

I want to get a cutting system that will cut circles and ovals. Any opinions on what is the best one out there?

Thanks for your help.

I use Nestabilities by Spellbinders. I noticed QVC now carries them. Check it out.

I do have a cuttlebug but I am not a real fan (Gasp) of Nestabilities. I am hoping to get a system that will allow me to cut larger circles and ovals. I want them for scrapbooking more than card making. I have looked at the Creative Memories cutter, the EK Success Circle cutter, I just don't know what route to go. Thanks for the imput so far. Any more ideas?

Don't quite want to spend that kind of money to cut circles. Although I know I would be able to do so much more with it also. Thanks for the idea.

My vote goes to the Coluzzle. I've tried other cutting systems such as the Fiskars and EK Success and the Coluzzle still wins. SU sells the system for around $20 with a circle and oval template.

i, too, have the oval and circle templates from creative memories with the three different sized cutting blades. i've used it for about a year now, but there are a few gaps in the size of circles for layering...which i find odd, because they could easily make another template to fill in those gaps...the more cards i make now (lots of invitations for myself and for others) the more i am considering another system...so, i don't know if this helps you at all, but i will keep reading to see what others say. good luck!

I really like the Creative Memories cutting system for scrapbooking! I have had it for a few years and use it ALL the time. I do have the Cricut now too and that is great as well...but like you said, a lot more of an investment. You can also get a couple of other shapes with the CM system if you were ever interested in expanding, and I use the mat that comes with the set for all SORTS of things!

The CM Custom Cutting System was designed to be used mainly for cutting paper for scrapbooking. Cardstock is much heavier paper and I have used my system to cut the shapes for layering on cards. I find that it works for most layers, but I have SU, Marvy and CM punches for sizes that don't work with the Cutting System. Btw, CM has just introduced 12x12 and 8x8 cardstock which are the same colors that were part of the 'Shades of Paper' packages. These are sold in packs of all one color.

I agree with you!!!! I have the CM system and think it is the BEST!!!! 3 blades for different sizes, use the inside of template or the outside. Very versatile and easy to use!!!

I HAD the coluzzle and kept nicking the plastic.....I hated it. I know that there are some who just love it but not me. I DO love my Creative Memories for lots of the circles and ovals. What the CM won't do, the nesties can. The great thing about the CM system is that you can get ovals and circles WAY bigger than the nesties can.

I saw a positive thread on here recently about the Martha Stewart circle cutter. I haven't used it but I'm going to check it out next time I get a Ms coupon.

I really like the coluzzle though. Simple and effective.

i have the coluzzle, and hate it as well for the same reason, i'm ALWAYS nicking the plastic. i have the making memories circle cutter.... it doesn't have a bunch of groove, the blade slides along a little ruler and you can stop it at how big you want the circle to be, so you literally can have any size. also very easy to use and takes up less space than most circle cutters i've seen. i absolutely love mine. i really love anything by making memories. they put out good products, pretty cheap.

I just bought the Martha Stewart circle cutter today at Wal-Mart and had to try it out as soon as I got home! It works great and has so many size options. I can't wait to use it more! I think it will be well worth the money!

I've had my CM system for 8 years now. I even share it with my SU demo when she needs a certain size that SU doesn't have---I have all the CM shapes. Love them!

I have had the CM system for years and love it. The quality can't be beat, over colluzzle. I am a Stampin Up Demo, and say this. However, I must admit that I do plan on getting some of the nestibilities since you can get those in a scalloped variety. The price and lack of money at the moment are keeping me from buying them just yet.

I too have brought the Martha Stewart circle cutter. I was impressed with the cutting and smooth glide around the circle. I have the colluzzle, but it is such a hassel to use; such as cutting the plastic guide, mis-matched cut lines, and difficult to push cutting tool around with the start and stop guides. At least I can use the Colluzzle cutting pad with Stewart's circle cutter.

The CM system works even better when you use a glass cutting mat, not the "self-healing" plastic one that they sell to go with the blades and shapes.

Default Fiskars shape cutter

Fiskars Ultra Shape cutter
I love mine, I'm able to cut some shapes using the templates but as well to cut free style, is not too much expensive
I bought mine via ebay for 13,00 but I believe that in US you could get in shops like Joans , Michaels, ...

check in the website of Fiskars for more information

I as well have Cricut, Cuttlebug and Colluzle, but I found this much more easy if I just want a circle or circle, of if I want to cut a photo or stamped image in the shape

Hi:

I have many, many, many cutting systems and the best that I have found is the system from Creative Memories, its absolutely the best there is. I have all the templates that they sell, plus I also bought on E-Bay all the templates that you get from being in the memory club, where you buy so much and then receive a free gift. Love, love, love the system and I ought to know since I have over two rooms full of supplies. Just thought I would add my two cents.

Take care,

I've had the creative memories for years and I find myself using them every day, I even got another set for my crop bag. The blades last long even with daily use and you get a nice variety of sizes. ( I too have a cricut but I always grab my CM cutters!)

Default Circle cutters

The Martha Stewart cutter is made by EK Success, so I would assume both cutters are very similar, if not identical. If using one of these, I would use a glass mat, and not a self-healing one. The glass allows the blade to glide much more easily.

I just got the CM circle and oval cutters this year and I LOVE them. I tried a friend's set and was hooked. But they were even better when I bought them because now the cutters swivel - I'm not sure how to explain it, but you never have to change your handhold on the cutter as you're moving it around the shape. Does that sound right, or do I just sound insane? LOL

You are absolutley right. The new cutters are made to be more user friendly and more ergonomic. As a CM consultant, I am very pleased to hear so many positive comments about the cutting system. :-D It can be used in connection with CM punches as well as other companies' for layering. I have done this many times in my card making. Thanks to all of you who have tried the system and like it!

Does the curvy cutter have more sizes in the initial kit? I think I read 22 sizes of circles. How many does CM have?

I love the EK Success Curvy Cutter. It is comparable in price to the CM system, the refill blades are much cheaper and they continue to come out with more and more shapes!

I just wanted to share that today I got the Martha Stewart Circle Cutter and have been using it all day. It's super simple and cuts in 1/16" increments, so there are plenty of circle sizes! I went to Ms looking for a 1 3/4" punch, and ended up with this - so glad I did! It's as easy as using a punch. IMO

I'm not normally a fan of CM, but having purchased many of the other shape making tools (Fiskars, EK Success circle scissors and curvy cutter etc), I tried & immediately purchased the CM cutting system for circles, ovals and other shapes. It cuts through Bazzill CS so easily and I've found it the easiest to use and gives the best finish to the shapes. I haven't tried Nestabilities, so cant comment on that tool (but they do look interesting....). Good luck in your search for the perfect cutting tool.

I like the tidyness of the look of this one everything in one place really makes me happy! It can't be any worse than the coluzzle can it?
