i'm making one today, actually two out of cosmetic bags, i'll let you know how it goes. i'm planning on having three holes down, and however many across that it takes to fill up the space. i'm going to hook my punch over the open lip of the bag to make the first punch, and then i'm going to fold the plastic to make two holes at once, one in the middle, and one at the bottom of the bag. does that make sense? that's how i'm getting around the reach limitations of a punch. we'll see how it turns out.
I started making one out of a left-over Almond Roca clear bag (it held a 4 pack from Costco at Christmas time), but I stopped because I just didn't care for it to hold my ribbon. I used my Crop-A-Dile II and it was really easy though!
How will you keep it from tangling up inside the bag??? Just curious...I haven't seen the original inside to see if there is anything to separate the ribbons...

I've been using zip-lock bags with punched holes. The first thing I learned was to NOT roll up the ribbon. It gets stuck. Just drop the ribbon into the bag. The 2nd was not to put too much ribbon in the bags. I use gallon bags, 1 for each color. Peggy

There's nothing on the inside of the original. I rolled my ribbon around my fingers then put it in the pull-ez. No tangles so far but can see it happening a bit...

I save the plastic zipper bags that curtains and bedding comes in to store the tons of fiber I have collected. I have not put holes in the bags, but it is easy see what's in the bag.
Love the popcorn tin idea, but I think I have to much for it to be a good solution for me.
i roll the ribbon with my fingers as well. before i had made the bag i used to put it in a ziploc bag and it never got tangled in there, so i'm not too worried about it. if i do have a major tangle i guess i'll have to pull the ribbon out and re-do it, but even that doesn't bother me. i did start at the bottom when threading the ribbon through, and i worked my way up so that the ribbon wasn't being pulled from all different directions.
