i was just browsing ebay cause i want a stampset and i see all the listings for retiered colors like (cs, marker, refill, etc) iam scared that if i stock up on the paper that i might not use it all up. specially since there are going to be NEW In-Colors.
i did buy one extra pack of cool carr. and marigold but i wonder on how much you are planning to stockpile?
there are only like 3 more months, right? plus i probably want sets from the retired list ahhhh.... budget planning you know what i mean baby?

I bought an extra assortment pack of paper and I'm getting one more pack of Caribbean and one more CC reinker, but that's most likely it. As you said, there will be new colors and I'll prolly LOVE some of them too
This In-Color thing really makes it hard on a girl. You should see the stock pile of ribbon I have for the In-Colors which I of course purchased before they said they would still be available. But my favorites are True Thyme, Cranberry Crisp, Buckaroo Blue and Cool Caribbean. So for those colors I'm going to get extra paper and I think I'll get reinkers for all of them, since they coordinate with each other. The retired list is just around the corner too..... I feel your pain.....lol
I bought the assortment pack and an extra pack of the CC, got a few of the inkpads and reinkers so that I have the colors. I really love them all, but I stockpile enough, I'm sure I'll love whatever the new colors are as well.
I was just thinking about this. I bought 4 of the 6 In Colors and regret it. I even bought 2 Caribbean reinkers and extra paper thinking I would die without it. When the paper came I liked it, but it is so close to turquoise that I regretted the purchase. Now I think I'll save them until they are retired and sell them.
There will be no patterned paper or ribbon from SU to match them next year and I think it is too expensive to keep getting new colors that are only good for a year. Sure, I know I can use them without coordinating items, but the coordination is the reason I bought all the SU inks and cardstock in the first place!
Unless there is some unbelievable new color next year, I'd rather take that money and buy stamps!

I have been completely stockpiling pretty much ever since they came out. LOL  I usually order about every couple of months, and I always tack on a few 'In Color' items with each order. So far, I've got about 4 packs of 12x12... one pack of each color in 8 1/2x11 (and I'll order one more each in a couple more months)... and I have (I think) three reinkers of each as well.
What can I say? I love the In Colors and am hoarding all that I can. Practical or not! LOL ;)
I'm still really undecided...........I'm bad about getting stuff and thinking I have to have it, and then something new comes out and I use it instead............I stuck. I think I will definitely get the re-inkers, even if I do end up passing the pads along at least someone will for sure be able to use them for a lot longer.

I bought all the reinkers first and made my own spots, so I'll probably stock up on Caribbean and Violet CS. When the last colors retired, I was a new demo and didn't think I'd need something I couldn't demo. But....I forgot about personal use! Now, I hoard my precious Magenta and Mint CS. I didn't even like those two until they retired, LOL.
On second thought, maybe I'd better take a second look at those other In Colors!

i totally a agree. but i am such a weak person. i said exactly the same thing when those colors came out but than i saw all the cool stuff here and ended up also with 4 colors.
iam sure the girls here will manage somehow to make us want the new stuff. waaa... iam still hopin su makes a new color family and puts some of the 2006 colors and 2007 in one categorie.
i can t believe that they did not make money with all that in colors so its not worth to keep them

now one more question....
why do you buy 2 re-inkers?
i have never bought a re-inker - how long do they last? i thougth maybe one re-inker lasts like for 5 years or more

Re-inkers are fabulous and I think one of the most under-utilized products. The pads do need to be re-inked over time, we often forget and then our stamped images just don't look as good as they used to!
But, there are a ton of other things that can be done with the re-inkers as well....
*shaving cream
*watercolor
*color spritzing
*creating your own rainbow pads from the un-inked ones
the list goes on and on. I am sure someone here as compiled a list of all the things that you can do with them!
A whole lotta fun in that little bottle....plus being needed for your pads! One bottle (even using it for art and not re-inking) does last a VERY long time!
cheri,
thank you.
you know... i told my demo my order for next month is a set of re-inkers in the ss color family. but now i am already thinking to change my mind and get stamps instead.
hmmm... now that you have wrote this i might just leave it that way.
how often would you say the inkpads need to be reinked? i do have some of my inkpads quite a long time now. but they were closed all the time cause i did not stamp at all. i started stampin last year

Good question! I had been wondering the same! I love the Vintage Violet color because it not a bright purple, and I absolutely LOVE Cranberry Crisp & True Thyme! I want to use them for Christmas cards this year, so I am going to buy a couple of extra packs and rolls of ribbon. But, then I think, maybe there will be new colors that I absolutely love and want to use. I have a problem ---- I hoard my paper! So I buy it and then I don't want to use it! I try really hard though and just tell myself that I can always buy more!

I will. I just don't think I could live without marigold morning, cranberry crisp, or true thyme. I'll probably buy several packages of each cardstock, more ribbon, and definitely the reinkers for the pads I bought.
Gosh I haven't decided yet. I only have the inks and not all the papers.. and only some of the ribbons too. *sigh* I really wish they would just keep them around and maybe ADD colors. I really don't like the idea of the colors getting discontinued. Poo. I will probably buy 2 packs of each color of paper so I at least have some to play with before they go bye-bye for good.

I LOVE cool carribbean. I mean LOVE it. I will need to stock up on the paper. People here at SCS have done great things with that color... so lively and fun.
now one more question....
why do you buy 2 re-inkers?

Claudia, I am not a demo and not an expert but I reink my basic black ink pad the most and have never come close to using the whole bottle. Now, I don't do a lot of the other techniques that you can do with the reinkers (I tried dying grosgrain ribbon once) and since I'm not a demo, I don't have a bunch of people using my ink pads but I don't think most people probably need more than 1 reinker per color. I would get one though or your pad will be no good once it dries out a bit. As for how long one lasts, that would depend on how much you use it but I had my basic black pad (I use this example because it is my most used) for a few years before I reinked it and then the bottle of reinker has lasted a few years and is probably still half full.
Hope this helps

I have them all and don't know what I'll do when they retire. I'll probably fall in love with the new In Colors and have to buy them all as well :-) That said, I won't stockpile since my personal use and my demo use are all interrelated so I might as well use current stuff just in case someone *has* to buy it from me :-)
