Default ? about Nesties & Aluminum

Does anyone know if the nesties will cut through aluminum (pop cans)? I'm a little chicken to try it.

I saw this project in the Spellbinders gallery using copper foil, so I don't see why a soda can wouldn't work.

I'll have to take a look at the craft foil next time I'm at Michaels. I think its quite a bit thinner than the metal from a pop can. I was hoping to get away cheap with this project, but it may not work that way.

I've had great luck with pop cans!

Some cans vary in thickness from brand to brand, you might have to run the die through twice with the tin to get a full cut. Try different pop or beer cans for different results.

If you have alcohol inks you can get some great effects on the silver side of the can!

I have had no problem at all Looks awesome, I have tended to cut out with the nestie (or other die) then emboss with what ever folder (it seems CB works the best as some of the new sizzix ones actually kinda split parts of the can) and then use the alcohol inks like kim said have fun!

I've had no problems cutting through soda cans though they didn't emboss with the impressabilities so great - but a cuttlebug folder worked perfectly. I still need to experiment with the impressabilities.

I also cut through thinner aluminum flashing and the foil from Walnut Hollow - it was on clearance at J's for $2.87 a roll! I wouldn't recommend using metal flashing with sets like the Fancy Tags, Fleur de Lis or other really detailed dies. The foil from Walnut Hollow is 42 gauge and worked great with my fancy tags, but it's kinda thin and floppy - meaning that it would bend/fold easily. So I glued it to a skinny cow (YUM) box and then ran it through. Worked ok, not floppy anymore but lost the metal look and feel that I was going for. It looked more like tinfoil or fake metal. I used a UHU glue stick to glue the foil to the box.

I've got some big ideas for die-cutting metal - I just need to find the right one. Has anyone tried the foils from 10 Second Studio? I need to get my hands on some of that.
