Default Tying a know with no tails

So after a half hour searching, I've found MANY tutorials on how to tie a knot in a ribbon. But, they are all on tying a knot around something and then having tails. I am looking for how to tie a perfect knot in the middle of a strand of ribbon. Make sense? Maybe I'm just over thinking it, but everytime I try I get just an ugly knot. What I'm looking for is showed on the wedding invitation in the 2009-2010 catalog on page 49. Any advice?

Thanks!
Kelsey

Hi Kelsey!

One thing I've found that seems to help is to not pull the knot too tight. I take a piece of ribbon longer than I need, tie a regular overhand knot and pull the ends 'til it looks like I want, then put it on the card so the knot is in the right place and cut off the excess.

Sometimes I've been known to stick a mini glue-dot inside the knot while it's still a little loose to add a little dimension and to keep things in place.

I recently bought a bow-easy ... I can't tie bows to save my life ... well at least not pretty ones. The bow easy is awesome. I am loving tying bows now. A well spent 5 or 6 dollars!
