I finally figured this out, but I didn't use the tag punch, I used my Cricut and the cartridge TTBM. It cuts tags of all types, so I used the window function on the beveled tag and it took a while, but I did it. After I do a couple more, I will post my picture, I need it to look a little less rough than the first one!!!! You girls on this board are so awesome....a never ending supply of wonderful ideas!!!!!!!
Thanks for your help!!!!

This is amazingly beautiful and so impressive! You are a genius!
Here's a tip that helped me, I ran my sparkly cardstock through my Xyron first, then cut out the frames...makes it so much easier to peel and stick!
But what's the secret to lining up the frames properly? My points weren't coming out right. Are they all supposed to be butt up against each other tightly, both layers? Thanks.

Mine did, but I think in the instructions she said to keep 1/4" apart... Try both and see which way you like it the best...
Ok, the 1/4" part is when you're punching out the little frames, not when you're lining them up for the second layer. It may help to have some grid paper under the vellum or whatever you're using just to keep the angles straight. It just takes a little practice.
When you're putting on the second layer, try just lightly pressing the top "bar or rod" of the frame into position first before you press down the other sides. That will let you reposition it if you need to. Watch the petals of the star as it is forming to see that they are somewhat even.

Ok...so I HAD to make this card, but only had one of the tag punches. So....I punched 8 tags, leaving room between them. Then used the Creative Memories Personal Trimmer to trim a 1/8" border around each of the tags. I ended up with the same tag outline!!! And I didn't have to spend any money!!!! Woo-Hoo!!!! Of course, it did take a little more time, but that's okay. LOVE this technique. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING!
Shadow Mill thank you for your wonderful instructions, I saw your card when you first posted it and wondered how did she do that with tag punchs. I have added a link to my first attempt. Not quite even but with practice I am sure I will get it. Also someone wondered what to do with the smaller tags, I used them to make a solid center. Your Starburst are beautiful and I can believe your coworkers didn't see that! Gallery at Splitcoaststampers

The solid center looks great! I've been so impressed with the varieties of the stars (and their centers) that have come out of this. I want to thank you and all of the wonderful stampers here at SCS for the kind comments and for just having fun with it!

You're so cute! Actually, my mind already went ahead and added the not and I never noticed! And it's nice to meet another person who gets bugged by typos. In my instructions it says, Embellisment and I can't get the H added. I can hardly stand to read them! lol I'm just glad you liked the silly starburst!
What in ingenious idea! thanks so much for sharing your instructions!!

From one Donna to another (lol): I agree with everyone else that you are a GENIUS! Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talent with us!
Your technique is perfect for me to kill time for the next 1 1/2 hours. (I've been injected with a radioactive substance this morning, and am due back at the hospital in 2 hours for a bone scan (Dr. can't figure out why my foot hurts), so I have about 1 1/2 hours to play with this technique!)
So glad I found this this morning! This will require major concentration for me, so no thinking about my foot - yay!
Off to play...
P.S. I looked in the resources, but couldn't find the full tutorial for this. Am I missing it, or has it not been uploaded yet? No pressure - I just want to make sure I'm looking in the right place!

Hi Donna!
So sorry that you're not feeling well! Punching out little frames to pass the time may help, but it's going to do nothing for your nerves! It sounds like you're replacing one pain in the neck with another. The radioactive substance part sounds scary, but on the bright side, that soft glow at night will be coming from you and not a nightlight. Seriously, I'm sure everyone here hopes that you get better really fast.
As for the tutorial, it's on the schedule to be added in mid-December to the Resource section. If you have any other questions, please let me know. I have more photos of the steps that I can send you, if needed.

You are so sweet! I was able to make the trees based on your pics and instructions, which were very good. I haven't made them into a full card yet, but hope to be able to do that today.
P.S. Thanks for your kind words about my foot problems. I'll find out the results later in the week, but nothing unusual seemed to appear to the tech when he was doing the scan, so that's a good thing.

Thank-you so much for sharing. I am new to stamping ans SCS and I am learning so much. Your instructions are so good ( almost as good as being in class). If you have more ideas, please share.
I love this (thanks so much for sharing it!!) and thought it would be perfect for a class I am teaching tonite.
I guess I have to investin a new big tag punch because mine is tearing the frame when I go to do the second punch - POO!!!
I tried silver foil, waxed paper and several different cardstocks - nothing worked!!! Poo, poo, poo!!!!
Sorry to hijack this very VERY positive thread!!!
It's nice to have a new technique that is so exciting to use and share!!!

Try adding just a piece of printer paper when you punch it. That works for me, sometimes.

This technique is just gorgeous. Glad you decided to enlighten us all and we were able to boost your confidence.

Since I work for a craft company in a non-design capacity, I had taken them to work to show some people and get their opinions. I was new and nobody seemed too interested in them. Then last week I started making some Christmas cards and decided to try another star. It took some courage to submit it and I've been so thrilled that there are other people who like it. Even more thrilling is the idea that this may help your sales at workshops or classes. That would be the best reward of all! Good luck and happy punching!
