Default Stamps not staying on acrylic blocks...

Need help with stamps not clinging to acrylic blocks? Some of my stamps fall or slip down before I get to stamp. Any ideas? Thanks! Barb

I mist the back of my stamps with my spray bottle and sometimes that helps. I have a couple of stamps that just refuse to stay on anything. It helps to have my acrylic blocks really clean, with no residue on them.

It could be a couple of things. Your block needs to be clean. After using the blocks they get stuff on them and cause the stamps not to stick as well. The easiest way for me to clean the blocks is to go to the sink and wash with dish soap. I don't have to do this very often.

The back of the stamp itself could need to be cleaned. After using it a while the back of the cling foam (EZMount) gets dust, oil from your hands or other stuff on it. Just run clear water over them and dry. Good as new.

I have also wondered about the stickers SU is using on the back of their clear unmounted rubber stamps. I don't know what the stickers are made of but if not the same product as the cling material that backs the foam, they may not "cling" as well. If that could be the problem try pulling the sticker off and using the stamp without it. That should answer the question.

Your Stazon staining shouldn't cause a problem for your stamps sticking, it's more likely to be the little bits of dust, glitter, embossing powder etc etc that we all manage to accumulate around our craft spaces! Flwrldy's advice is great and hopefully that will work for you. Once in a while I give my most used stamps a "spa treatment" and actually use a little mild handsoap on the cling foam, rinse it off really well. Whether you use the soap or just plain water, it's best to leave your stamp to air dry to make sure you don't get any lint straight back on there. That in combination with clean blocks should sort it for you. Good luck!

MY acrylic blocks were stained - or so I thought - with ink. I took a pencil eraser and erased them away. Yes...even Stazon came off. No expensive solutions needed, just a standard eraser and my blocks are clear and new looking again.

You can also clean your blocks AND your stamps with Simple Green. Just spray directly on them or onto a piece of cloth. You'll condition and clean your stamps and remove the yucky stuff on your blocks! One bottle of the stuff has lasted me over two years. I use it straight out of the bottle (no diluting with water).

Another boo boo I made yesterday, set a rubber stamp down on a paper towel ( sticky side)...What a mess...A test for Simple Green!!

Kerry,

Update!! The Simple green works terrific on the stamps! It cleaned off my paper towel sticky mess so fast! Thank you so much! I thought I would never be able to stamp with them again! Yay! You made my day! Barb
