Question Stamp on a blank CD? Possible? (NOT altered art)

Hi!
I've been burning several ('mix-tape' & photo) CD's & DVD's to give to friends and I was wondering if anyone knows of a technique to stamp on the blank disc in order to label it?

Basically, I want to be able to stamp out the title with Alphabet stamps and maybe even use an image, too. (I'm not referring to 'altered art' style, because I want the CD to be playable.)

I've tried to look for info online and haven't really found anything. Would it work with StaZon inks? (I don't have any, yet.) Has anyone given this a try?

Thanks!
=)

Just a few thoughts...

I haven't tried stamping directly on a usable CD... yet... but I don't see any reason you couldn't.. and maybe even emboss on it as well... so long as you didn't have to heat it enough to warp the CD. To me, it seems this would work because the CD is played from the bottom side anyway. Not sure how much clearance you have above the CD in a player though... or what added weight might do.

CD's aren't all that expensive, maybe you could burn one, decorate it... and just see what happens? (if it would stlll play)

You also might just purchase some CD labels... like you create with your computer... and stamp those instead... the kind of ink wouldn't be so important this way because you could always spray seal it before applying to your CD.

Good luck... HAVE FUN... and maybe just experiment and share with the rest of us what you find

Default Staz-On to Stamp on CD

I have not tried it, but I believe if you use Staz-On to stamp your words you would have nothing to worry about.

Anybody else have a thought about this?

HTH,
Shirley

Hi!- I have used Stazon ink and letter stamps to stamp titles directly on CDs(DVDs) for my nephew...they play fine. I don't see why it wouldn't work with a music CD.....

My DH is a blues musician and records his own CD's. He asked me about putting paint on them to decorate them...I told him to use Stazon! I have a Stratocaster guitar stamp that he likes to use for stamping his CD's. Whenever he burns a new batch, he has a little stamping session on my side of the basement with Blue Stazon! Works great!

Stazon works great! I've also purchased CD labels, printed and stamped them.

I used this last year for "gift cards" and they turned out cute.

I tried to reply a few days ago, but it wouldn't let me! How bizarre!

Well, I've gotten my hands on 2 StaZ-On pads and it works! I've used some background stamps on the CD then alphabet stamps to give it a title. It works great, tho it's more of a transparent than opaque image. But I am happy with the result. I'll have to take a pic and upload it to the "anything but a stamp" Gallery.

Many thanks for all who replied!
