Default shaving cream...? about removing from c.s.

I finally tried the shaving cream technique for the first time today. So many techniques and sooooo little time!

I want some of the white cardstock to show after I remove the excess shaving cream. But, when I rub it off as per Beate's tutorial, the ink sitting on the leftover shaving cream smears all over the c.s.

Help! I JUST want the pattern left by the inked shaving cream, not the smears from removing the excess shaving cream and ink. What can I do differently?

Thanks

Maybe try less ink in the shaving cream. The first ones I ever tried were smeared too. Now they come out beautifully! sometimes less is more! Just a thought!

I tried out this technique aboout 3 years ago, before I ever started stamping, using food colours rather than inks but I imagine that it works the same.

If there are any blobs of ink in the shaving cream they will tend to smear so either use less ink or make sure you move it around and split up any blobs with the stick.

Also when I did this, I only did one sheet of CS at a time and removed the shaving cream with a spatula first before polishing off the residue with a cloth. If there were any overly moist spots left they would smear unless I gave them a minute or 2 to dry before polishing remaining saving cream off teh card.

If you do 2 pieces of card maybe don't press them too hard together?

Hope this makes sense and can be of help.

Mine has never smeared. I thought I was using too much shaving cream but maybe that's the trick. The shaving cream is approx 1/4-1/2" thick with about 6 drops of reinker. I scoop it off with a paper towel by curling my hand in a circular motion. It takes about 3 scoops (and 3 paper towels) to get it all off.
