Default plaidmaker

How do you use the plaidmaker templates? I tried last night and it did not turn out. I used the brayer and tried sponging, but it didn't ink evenly and didn't look good at all. What am I doing wrong?

I used the brayer with the spongy attachement. I had to go over it several times in one place to get it the shade that I wanted.

I also tried sponging but liked the richness from the brayer better.

A note of caution...be careful when handling the plaid-ed paper after touching the plaidmaker. The first time I used it, I had a lovely plaid and then got ink on my fingers from the plastic and messed up my piece!

Good luck and let us see what you create!

I use my daubers and sponge it on, but I use the glossy
cardstock. It works great.

How do you keep it in place? And is it best to only use glossy?

To keep my template in place, I used masking tape and after sticking the corners of my 12x12 (non glossy) cardstock in the slots, taped the whole thing to my table.

And I haven't tried it with glossy. The regular worked just fine.

My demo showed us how to use the small plaidmaker last night. She used painter's tape across the center of the larger of the 2 to cut it in half. She said she did this to make the template more sturdy. She used the same type of tape for the smaller template, but this time did it in 1/4ths. Anyway, we used Hermafix temporary on the back of the cardstock to keep it from slipping. I think that the masking tape on the themplate helps to keep it from shifting while using it. We used sponge daubers that were slightly damp and instead of daubing, we slid them along the opening of the template. It saves a ton of ink from using the brayer. We used both craft and classic inks. I preferred the craft ink, but the classic worked ok too. We were using regular US white.

HTH!
