I've noticed that some people tie the most gorgeous bows...any tips for the bow-challenged (like myself)??? Not to be too demanding, but a video tutorial would be mah-velous...
If you don't have a cropadile, what size hole should you punch for this? Anyone know? Thanks
Regular hole punch size I believe will work. The crop-a-dile has a 1/8 or 3/16" size. I think the 3/16" is the regular hole punch size in notebook paper too.
I need to work on a video tutorial on how to tie real bows, but in the meantime, I've got a really good knot tying tutorial that looks like a nice bow on my site.
I'm sorry I don't have the means to do a video, but I think I can explain easily - IF you like how this bow looks, that is!
Two pieces of ribbon are needed
I wrap the long strip of ribbon around the card taping the ends in back.
I tie a bow around that strip of ribbon using the bunny ear method.
I can try to add some pictures later if anyone is interested.
I've always done the Bunny Ear method by holding 2 loops of the same piece of ribbon in my hand. THAT'S where they look like bunny ears. Then I tie them in a simple knot.
There was an article with pictures about bow tying in the Stampin' Up! newsletter for demonstrators. It gave a few different options.
Love the videos..will help me a lot. When tying a regular bow, I use the bunny ears method as well. A couple of questions for you, has anyone used a bow tying jig called a Bow Easy? I have one that came with directions on how to tie a bow with it..and you can tie various sizes, but I have trouble determining how much ribbon to cut for the sizes I want. Does anyone out there have a ribbon length chart for this contraption? It ties really nice bows, but I seem to be wasting much too much of my precious ribbon. Help!
Thank you all for sharing these videos!! I finally made one! YAY!! I bookmarked all the videos so I can go back again and again for more practice. Thanks, again!
Hugs,
Bridgett

On another thread someone showed us a link to making a pretty flower using a big button and bits of ribbon as the petals. It had freed me up to ues ribbon. I have a cute jar that was floating around my kitchen to keep all of the bits in. I will look for the link.
It seems like all of these tutorials and videos are about tying KNOTS, not BOWS...are there any for tying bows? They have helped a lot with my knots, but there are times you actually want a bow, and mine look pretty sad LOL

Thank you all! I just registered and already I have learned something new. I can see that I will be hard pressed to try all of the ideas on SCS but what fun to "see" what you can't quite grasp from a book or magazine!
I saw a video on kwerner's on tying ribbon awhile back. It was very helpful and I use the method for all my bow tying now. It works! Here's the link to her main site: http://kwernerdesign.com/blog/
She is revamping her videos right now, so you may not be able to find it... hopefully it's still on there. Hope this helps!
