Default Need pop up help

Ok, I want to do a pop up card. I'm using a paper mache box. Here is what I want to do. When you take the lid off, I want the image/saying/whatever to pop up.

anyone have any idea how I can do this?

a small spring like a jack in the box will work. The spring will have to be longer than the box is tall, otherwise it won't spring up.

How about using a pipe cleaner for the spring?

 How big is the box? For a tiny box, jewelry size, take the spring out of a ball point pen. For a big box, shoe size, go to the hardware store with box in hand and tell them what you are attemptin to do.

it's a round paper mache book. Maybe two inches deep.

Since the box is not very deep, I would try what Sharon says. Did you ever make those springy things out of paper when you were a kid? The double strip ones that fold across each other are even more "springy" than a single strip of paper.

nope never did the paper thingie.

I'll see if I can get a pen spring to work. The one I had the other wouldn't work.

I saw something like this on the Carol D. show on the H & G Channel. I believe it had a rubber band that held the card together and when the box opened it popped up. Maybe you can try searching her website to find the instructions.

May sound crazy???? (I've been accused of worse) you could always take an ink pen apart and use the spring out of there as long as the box is not very deep, it just might work.

That is a very pretty box. But craftymom says she already has a box -- paper mache, 2 inches deep. She is trying to figure out how to make a small card come popping up, out of the box.

I'll try and play around with something this week, and see if I can get something to work.

Thanks
