Default Making Soda Can Snowflakes with your Big Shot!!

I did a class on Friday where we ran soda cans through the Big Shot using the Snowflake #2 die. They turned out soooo cool!!!

I just uploaded a video to my blog showing how to cut the can with the Stampin' Up! Craft and Rubber Scissors.

I ran seven different soda cans through my machine and I have to say that the Diet Mountain Dew is my favorite so far!!

You can see the video HERE and I will attach the photo of the Gift Card Tin we put the snowflake on.

I did a whole tree with them last year at school. The students brought some really cool cans we cut. Some of the energy drink cans were fun.

I love this idea but I'm wondering how the die looks afterwards. Do you have a die that is dedicated to the pop can?

It doesn't look any different than when I run paper through it. The little metal pieces just brush off.:p

Ladies....the Sizzix dies whether you purchase them from some website or even Stampin' Up are meant to cut all kinds of materials.....anything that can be cut with regular scissors. The die is not damaged by the material.

Instead of the hassel of cutting the can, you can use sheets of thin metal that you purchase in craft stores. Also try using the inside of the can instead and coloring the metal with alcohol inks to get the colors you want instead of the ones on the outside of the can.

I cut mine with a cuttlebug because I only have a big shot at home and a cuttlebug at school. Thing that did ruin a die was the paint stick they tried to cut.

I tried it with my Cuttlebug and the little SU snowflakes and couldn't get it to work......BUT I have a huge hand punch of a snowflake and it worked just great. No problems----the snowflake is the same size as the one from SU.......I loved the Sierra Mist can snowflake the best (but I only had diet pepsi, nestea lemon, and one sierra mist can to play with.)

Very cool! Would you have to be careful about giving that to someone with little kids? (Are the edges sharp?)

The edges of the snowflake aren't sharp after you run the can through the Big Shot but I guess I would still be a bit careful.:p

This also works with the flower dies to make votive holders and just to add an extra the inside of coors cans are blue. Makes for some great flowers.
