Default Making "retro-looking" scrapbook pages

I'm going to take a stab at my first scrapbook using photos of my childhood(in the 70s). I want to make the pages have that retro feel (to match the pictures!).

Does anyone have suggestions on achieving this? Color schemes? Decorative papers? Sample layouts? Or even stamps that might work. I have Simply Circles and think I might be able to incorporate that, but am stumped beyond this!

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Lots of orange, yellow browns, squares and circles...how about looking at websites like Nick at night or VH1 (for the partridge family) and getting ideas for fonts and color schemes? It might be fun to include a cd or list of your favorite music, movies, prices of items at that time too! I'm sure more ideas will come to me as soon as I hit the post button! Sounds like a fun scrapbook! Don't forget to include a pic of Shaun Cassidy!!!!

I really like to use the Tickles Designer paper for retro looks.

The jumbo wheel, (one with all of the squares?), it's sitting right here in front of me, I just can't think of its name. That would be a great border for a scrapbook and you could color in the squares different 70's colors.

The By Design set that matches tickles would work. also there is a background stamp or in the smorgasborders set with the rectangles and i think its retro looking.

What about going to a library and looking at books to get ideas? Try and copy prints from material, etc. also, don't forget music! I was a teenager in the late 60's-early 70's and music was EVERYTHING!!!!

Default Thank you!

Thank you all so much! Such great ideas that I will definitely put to use. Maybe when I complete a few pages I'll post for the first time. Thanks again!

There are a bunch of retro oriented stamp sets and accessories in the new SU catalog. "Simply Circles" and "Simple Shapes" are just perfect for your projects! Have fun & post your results...on SCS of course
