Thanks, but I don't think that is the one I'm looking for. :confused: There could be another way to do the faux suede, as opposed to faux leather. Anyone know? Thanks,Carol

I made a card last year that looked a bit like suede when finished. I just used creamy caramel paper and sponged on chocolate chip or close to cocoa, can't remember which, lightly. It really looked cool. I also sponged those colors on old olive, more mustard and eggplant envy. You can try it and see if it gives you the look you want.
The other thing I am doing lately is wadding up wax paper, straightening it out a bit and brayering on a darker color. Then lay your lighter colored paper on it and just smooth your hands over the back of it. It looks really great.

My demo showed us a faux suede techniqe & then, when I went to Regionals in Atlanta, they showed a different way. My demo's way was to wad up your cardstock piece that's cut to size. Continue to wad & smooth out until it starts to separate. The CS is dyed all the way through, so when it starts to separate, the split is still the color. Once it is splitting enough, gently pull the plies apart. The inside is your "suede" piece.
The technique shown at Regionals was: take your bone folder and rub your CS with it...CS is between the bone folder and your thumb, using your index finger to move bone folder. Continue to do this all over your cut CS until the splitting occurs. Then, as the previous directions, carefully separate the plies.
I like both techniques for different reasons. The first technique give a more "distressed" look to the suede, whereas the second technique keeps it smooth.
I have done these technique on cards that I think are in my gallery, but I don't know if you can really see the suede look.

I cut my paper to the size I want and then use the bone folder to soften and seperate it. Starting with the edges and then working inward I use the same actions as when you curl ribbon with the scissors. After I work around the paper, I turn it over and do it on the other side. I keep doing it until I get the look and feel I want.

If you don't want to crimp because you're having a hard time getting the crimp marks out, you can just crumple, crumple, crumple using your hands or even bending it over a bone folder (like you are curling ribbon).

I discovered this totally by accident. VIVA paper towels when painted or splotched with craft acrylic paint become almost exactly like suede fabric. When I want that effect, I'll paint a small section of a VIVA towel and use it on a card. I also make "suede flowers" using some of the many flower tutorials with "suede" VIVA towels.
