Question folded/torn frame

Help! I am desperately trying to figure out how one makes a frame in the middle of the front side of the card, where there is a stamped 3-D image bursting through the frame. The edges of the frame are folded towards the front of the card, sometimes torn, sometimes just folded. What I can't figure out is the folded frame (hole) that is in the front of the card. How was it done?

I can't even show you a picture because, although I have seen it a bunch of times on this website, I can't find a picture now.

Sounds like you might be describing Iris Folding or Iris Twist? Here is a link to that tutorial: Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers

Default not quite

Ooohh! I love that frame!

But that's not exactly what I am talking about. It is literally a hole in the front of the card that uses the sides of the hole (folded back) to make a frame for the inside picture. It's like the reader has torn the card to reveal the treasure inside.

I hope that describes it good enough. I have been trying to do it since last night and I can't figure it out. Maybe I am just a dunce!

Wink

Hi,

I figure out the size of the torn hole by turning over the soon-to-be frame, lightly penciling in the shape of the item that will be showing through, then I make an X with my exacto knife, and I tear out the shape.
Next you turn it right side up, and roll the torn edges toward yourself.
Place your image behind the frame, and maybe make an extra tear or two (or roll the edges more) and it should fit.
If you are having difficulty rolling the edges, you can use a little water on your fingers to soften the paper. Or tear a little "chunk" (like a "V") every inch or so to create a gap so it will roll easier.
My explaining skills are weak, sorry.
Maybe someone could embellish (or simplify) it for you.
Or better yet, show you a tutorial.

I've been too afraid to try this technique thanks for asking the question and for giving an answer!
