I add faux brads to my stuff - punch and then add Crystal Effects to give it that 3-D effect. This has a dual purpose on Vellum as you can attach your vellum to your base page with glue and then put the 'brad' on top to cover the glue. Way cheaper than having to buy them in every color too ...

This thread is so timely! I was just thinking this morning. Why don't they make a stamp in the image of an eyelet, then we could stamp and emboss in any color we wanted. Hmmmmmm........what could you do to 'make' your own stamp to do this......it would be way easier than punching and dealing with the tiny pieces.

If you have a paper drill(Japanese paper drill) you could probably use it. I will be trying this out this afternoon. The drill would allow you to punch anywhere on the paper. I've had trouble putting eyelets into altered books, and this technique would be great. Thanks for sharing.
Very clever! Great way to use scraps and like you said...no hammering required. For anyone that has smashed an eyelet or knocked the coating off AFTER putting it on a project, this is way better than sliced bread!;)

I like the "faux" eyelet technique -- but Ann got me thinking. Could you poke a hole in a clean, new pencil eraser and then use that as a stamp or I'm I being too silly again????
You could even just stamp the eraser and then use a small punch in the middle of the stamped image. That would make a neat thingy at the top of custom made tage. Thanks for the idea.
How about pulling eraser out of mechanical pencil, stamp pencil end on pad, then punch hole in stamped image. You would have to use the color cardstock you want. I'll try this evening if possible.
Last night I tried to punch fun foam.......no luck.......the foam was too thick to fit into the punch. Then I took some of the pieces that I had trimmed from a new stamp set and peeled off the rubber from the foam. It did fit into the punch. Now my only problem was that the punches I have are just a little bigger than an actual eyelet. It didn't really stamp and emboss all that bad. When I get a chance tonight or tomorrow, I'll post my results!

Ann, that was clever. I didn't realize that the punch would punch the rubber. I would have thought that the foam was easier. Shows what I know ! (not!)
And Marcia, using a brad is a great idea. Lots of ideas in this thread
I got a silent setter for Christmas last year and really like it nice and quiet, now with your idea I can put an eylet anywhere in any color how cool is that guess my gift will soon start collecting dust but then again maybe not LOL
Just wanted to say TFS

That is a cool idea, I too was wondering if anyone had tried CE with on them. Also, if you use the 1/2" punch instead of the 1/4" you get the little reinforcements that are on the tops of the string tags or whatever those tags are called.

thank you! thank you! thank you!
you are truly brilliant, i just tried it and it looks good. i am always looking for eyelets, and end up with colors that dont match what i am doing at the time because i am "out of stock", now i will never be out!
