Cindy, have you tried blocking it? That helps things to lie flat. I haven't done the leaf chain, but I've blocked crocheted flowers and individual leaves.
Thanks, I do know what blocking is.....and generally I will press something with that type of definition on the back using a pressing cloth on the ironing board....like a very thick towel. I also use spray starch, heavy.
Shelly, here's what I will do....have to go out tonight but, tomorrow.....I will post what I have done with different angles so you (or anyone else) can tell me what I am not doing correct.
Thanks for trying to help me, I do appreciate it!!
Much better! I finally sat down without distractions, read the directions again and found that I was not turning after the chain 1.....I was putting the stitch in the top of the previous leaf not putting it in the bottom of the leaf.
Now the only thing is that I don't have an overlap of the leaves like in the example. Guess it just means more practicing.
Do individual leaves & glue them down in a row. LOL
I don't think you're dense. It took me quite a bit of practice. I've had plenty of things I knew should be easy frustrate the heck out of me. It's hard when we can't just show each other too. I'm sure I'm not explaining it very well.
No you are explaining it just fine.....but, I am a visual and hands on learner, that's all. Don't worry you are fine!!
It probably does not help that I have so many things going on in my life right now either. Maybe this weekend when we go camping, I can relax and forget about everything else.....then, hopefully, the technique will happen!!
Woo Hoo!!!!! I finally did it....I finally figured it all out and made a chain!! I am so relieved.....now I just need to get a card made tonight and display it! Thanks Shelly so much for trying to help me...bowing....you were sweet!

GOOD for you Cindy!! It always feels good when we get thinks to work doesn't it!
I made my very first fleurette last night! It's on my blog...but I'll upload here too. It's my first...so please don't laugh too hard! LOL! I used the 4 ply yarn to practice until I'm good at it to go with the smaller needles and embroidery floss.

Great work! Thanks for sharing, was it as hard as it looks?

You did a great job, now you can add them to your cards or scrapbook pages. You're a pro!!!!

Good job Gabby!
Keep working on them and you will be a pro....like us (Ha!) in no time!!
Have you noticed that when you come to this thread there is always an ad for Crocheted flowers for sale!!
Not for me. My wonderful son put an ad blocker on my computer, so I don't get all those ads that dance and sing and do jumping jacks... well maybe not quite all that, but I think you know what I mean. All the blinkies really slow down your computer.
I been working on Christmas cards, christmas thank you cards and christmas gifts lately so, have not had the time to work on crochet. Not to mention I started volunteering at my son's school and in the gardens at a historical home....and decided to go back to school for one course. Needless to say my days are very full right now.
Though I am still working on edgings, leaf chains and loose leaves for some scrapbook pages I will be doing in November.

Wow, you're sure a busy lady these days. Hope you manage to carve out some time to relax.
