I was wondering if anyone had any tips, tricks or comments on the best way to clean and sharpen your craft and rubber scissors? Mine get sticky after trimming just one stamp set!

Hi, Cecillia, I usually clean mine with rubbing alcohol. It takes the sticky residue right off. Someone else might havea different method, but this does work.
I keep a bottle of Goo Gone at my work desk. It works great taking off all the "goo" left from the rubber after trimming the stamps. As for sharpening, I use a sharpening tool that came with a set of Henckel knives I purchased long ago.
I actually spritz mine with Stampin' Mist and wipe them off with a baby wipe after every set I mount, just to keep 'em clean. Someone else was told to rub the blades with Versamark ink PRIOR to cutting their stamps to avoid them getting gummed up, but I haven't tried that yet?
To keep them sharp, I would suggest having them professionally sharpened by someone who is familiar with KAI's. Jim at circuststamps.com is reknowned for great sharpening and speedy, reasonably priced service.
HTH,

Thanks Julie, I have never heard of using the Stamping Mist or VersaMark before. I have been known to use Clorox wipes, those work well, but I think I might try the VersaMark once to see if it helps in preventing a lot of glue sticking to the scissors...

I tried this last time and didn't notice any difference - did I do it wrong?

Great cleaning suggestions! To sharpen I use a Fisk. small, orange, round scissor sharpener from wm fabric dept. You stick the scissors through the opening and pretend to cut lightly, so far, works for me...at least until I can get them professionally sharpened!
Hopefully this response works. It is the first time responding - wow!
I use WD 40 to clean my cutting blades, scissors etc. You just put the items on a paper towel or cloth and spray the surface with the WD and let it sit. Not very long. Then just wipe the scissor blades clean and all the glue comes right off-no scrubbing. If you are worried about a bit of oily residue just wash with warm soapy water. I never do this as I don't over spray my scissors, wiping them down works great.
WD 40 is great for removing any sticky adhesive from objects. It dissolves the glue. I even use it on my hard wood floor if sticky tape from birthday parties gets on the floor. Spray, sit and wipe - 1 minute is all it takes.

Now why didn't I think of that? I've used it for labels on bottles plenty of times, never thought to use it on my scissors!
Thanks for the tip

Undu! For Craft and Rubber scissors!
I had a brilliant idea one day when I was at my work table cutting a new set. There was a llittle bottle of undu sitting there in front of me and I thought aha! I tried it and I can't believe how great it works! I'd been using nail polish remover for over a year with only okay results and had used rubbing alcohol before that, which I liked even less. That undu stuff is great! Works like a dream.

I also use UNDO...it is great for so many things...including fixing a boo boo on a page... but I also spray mine with "no stick"" from my kitchen, like pam or Mazola... it works great but lay on a paper towel ...spray and wipe excess only...cut away no stickies...
Undu is just lighter fluid, you can save a whole bunch of money by just going to your grocery store! By the way - it works great for removing adhesive from almost anything - not just scissors!
For sharpening - you really should get them professionally sharpened from time to time but cutting through aluminum foil usually helps a bit
