I was looking through the gallery tonight and I came across a card that was done with the cracked glass technique. I have seen other cards and wondered how it was done. But tonight I finally decided I had to ask. Here is the link to the card I saw. Does anyone know how this technique is done?

On top of your stamped image, do several layers of UTEE. (Ultra thick embossing enamel.) Stick your piece in the freezer for a bit. Take it out and bend it to get the cracked glass look.
HTH,
NY Nan
Thanks Nan! Except I don't have any UTEE. Will regular clear powder work just in several layers?

SU Glassy Glaze is the equivalent of UTEE--both are large granules of EP. Several layers of it makes a very thick covering of EP on your project. You could try putting 4 or 5 layers of the regular EP on, but I don't know if it will get thick or just collapse on itself. I've never tried it.
Yes, you can build up several layers of regular embossing powder in place of the few layers of ultra thick embossing powder. I've done this myself on many occasions with good results.
Thanks ladies! I will have to try both the regular and the glassy glaze. I will make sure to post my finished results.

Thanks for all the info about cracked glass. Now I would like some ideas for the use of matchbook covers, the old matchbook covers. Found some at a flee market and thought they looked neat. Having a brain fart and can't seem to get my creative juices flowing on this!
Use Versamark DTP (direct to paper). Cover the entire image then pour on a layer of UTEE. Pour off the excess and heat emboss. Most directions say to add another layer of UTEE while the prior layer is still hot. But I find that I can't get enough to stick, so I use another application of Versamark. Repeat until you have at least 4 layers. Then put in the freezer for a few minutes or just wait. When it's really cooled off, you'll be able to crack it.
