Can you heat emboss on faux leather / pleather

I just bought a new bible with a faux leather cover. I wanted a pretty bible that I saw in a different version, so I thought I could get that look by heat embossing on the cover. But I thought I would check here to see if anyone actually has experience with this technique on faux leather first.

I would think it depends on what you are stamping on to emboss. Leather/faux and real has texture that a stamp can't reach so you would have spotty embossed image. This is just an opinion since no haven't tried it and don't have anything to practice on.

I just embossed on a photo album. Didn't work too well. I used the powder to clean the surface but I still got white spots all over.

If the faux leather surface is made of some type of plastic I would think that the heat tool might melt it.

Thanks Kathy! I don't think it looks bad, but I understand how frustrating it can be if that isn't the look you were going for. I'm trying for a vintage feel, so I don't mind if it isn't perfect and a little messy.

I would probably try it, but I would warm up the heating tool first. Then you won't have it pointed at the cover as long. Keep in mind that the texture on the photo album I used was not too rough or deep as your faux leather might be.

This blogger had luck doing it with leather. I would keep a close eye on the pleather whilst embossing so not to melt it. - CAN'T STOP MAKING THINGS: Mirror Stamping

Thanks for your help. I tried it out and I think it came out OK. It has a lot of sprinkles as Kathy noted, but I'm OK with that. Sadly I can't figure out how to attach a pic from my phone.
