What a great idea! I'm going to have to try that. Of course, I wuoldn't recommend eating the eggs dies with our re-inkers -- I don't think they're food safe. But just to make the eggs look pretty -- why not?
Which brings up another idea -- I wonder if I could stamp and emboss the eggs too? I have to try this tonight! Thanks so much for thinking of this, Amanda!
Well... Last year I suggested to my two very good friends that we boil up some eggs for Easter, and STAMP on them. They thought I was crazy at first, but we had a blast stamping, watercoloring them, and using markers on them. (mind you, we're all over '50', so it was big kids at play.)
It's surprisingly easy to stamp on an egg... just kinda roll the inked stamp over the egg. We used smaller images, of course.
One thing we did notice, upon opening up one egg that cracked, the ink does slightly bleed through the shell to the egg's surface, so I wouldn't eat one after using ink on it. But, we had a great looking basket of eggs! I'm sure the diluted reinkers would work for a base color, too.

I bet if you did a search in the forums, you'd find more info...I remember a few threads from last year about people making their eggs with re-inkers...
hmmmm..... maybe dye raw eggs, varnish, and then carefully punch a hole on each end and blow out the raw middle? (Just thinking out loud.) Kind of a stampers version of the Ukranian Pysanky.

This is a great idea - the only thing I would do differently is blow the egg out prior to dying and varnishing. You wouldn't want to ruin all of your work at the last minute. Besides you can have omelette's for breakfast if you do it first and not after

3T Vinegar, 1/2 cup water, about 15 drops re-inkers, or to desired color. For added fun, once the egg has been soaking for a bit, add a few more drops of re-inker for a tye-dye effect.
I've made ukrainian psanka, and with apologies to the OP, you can't blow out the egg and then dye it. If you do, you will either not have the egg sink into the dye because it is too light, or the water will get into the inside of the egg and you will be days getting it to dry out properly. You do however, blow it out and let it dry (using a cardboard egg carton is the best) for 24 hours before varnishing. A piece of plywood with nails driven into it makes a fabulous holder for spray varnishing. (Grid it off in 1 inch increments. Drive nails where your lines meet. Only drive them in about halfway of course!)

You could use all of our colouring media to do on blown eggs...stamp them, colour it in, apply washes of colour, etc etc.
Decorated blown eggs can be strung onto branches for a pretty table centre. Don't even have to be easter themed- good for any time.
