Default Background Stamping Technique on coasters - how do you...?

I've seen a lot of the coasters that have the background stamped with the French Script or something like that and then an image stamped right over that.

How do you keep the French Script background out of the second stamped image? It looks like it's surrounding the image.

How'd you do that?!?

I'm thinking it sounds like you stamp the image first, then "mask" it with a post-it cut in the same shape (stamp on the post-it, then cut out the shape and place over the stamped image on the coaster). Then stamp the background stamp.

Sounds like a nice way to do tiles - I'll have to try it!

Hi Audra,

I usually stamp my main image first, say the Angel from on Angel wings. I also stamp that image on a scrap piece of paper, then I cut it out and put a temporary adhesive on the back cover my first image with the cut out one and then stamp with my back ground stamp. Hope this helps, you could practice on scrap paper!
