Hi all. I figured that I'd make a Onesie for the challenge today. I'm viewing this tutorial: Blogs at Splitcoaststampers
but honestly, I'm just not getting this. It's extremely too vague for me. It doesn't say if the 4.25 x 5.5 cardstock is folded or if it's just cut down to that size, nothing like that. There's just not enough explicit instructions for me. I've hunted for another one with no luck. Thanks for any help.
And before anybody gets all over my case for supposedly "picking" on Lauren, I'm not. I just don't get her tutorial.
When I made my onesies I took an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and cut it long ways down the middle so I had two pieces 4.25 x 11 and folded them in half getting the 4.25 by 5.5 measurements. From the fold I measured down to get the sleeves and free handed cutting the angle down to the bottom. I did use Lauren's tutorial but can see where you got confused. Hope this helps.
I also got frustrated with not being able to follow directions for any onsies that I liked so I created my own template. If you go to my gallery and like them send me a PM with your email address and I will send you the template that you just print out on CS
I have done quite few of the onsies.
What you do is
1.cut the 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cs on half (the long side).
2. fold in on half
3. from the folded part go vertically down and mark 1 3/4" and going horizontally 1". so the sleeve is wide 1 3/4" and long 1" (I hope this make sense)
and from the begining on the sleeve (the 1 " mark which is horizontally) with ruller make a line till the bottom corner of the card and cut it. I do it with xcto knife.
And then you punch out the circles on the fold and the legs.

That's so funny that this thread was from today...I just sent that link to my niece who's having a girl. I'm making her baby shower invites and I wanted to use that pattern.
I tried making one and was using Pretty in Pink Cardstock and my punch WOULD NOT go through so I kinda gave up on the idea.....But my cousin is having a baby and I am doing these for her baby shower and need to get kicking and get these done
Should I use cheaper cardstock or just punch one side then the other (it was foled in have and I tried to do it together

I had the same problem when I tried first time, my punch was just acting stupid. What I did was cut the cardstock so the fold was on the side and I punched the front first, then using that as a guide the back side.

I made a onesie card using Lauren's tutorial and brought it in recently to my stamp group. The demo said she thought you could do it completely with punches. In other words, no xacto knife for the bottom of the sleeve/armpit - which would be great as that is the hardest part to do. We held a bunch of her punches up to the card I had made and none of the shapes matched. Does anyone know how create that part of the card with a punch?
Also, for those of you having problems with punching through 2 layers of card stock: Make sure the card stock is as close as possible to the handle of the punch ie not at the top. That little tip helped me out a lot.
I just die cut my onsie cards. Accucut has a die cut for them and it is great.I have a few in my gallery at www.ka-diecuts.com under cards then look for the onsie. These are great for baby announcements or quick cards to have on hand.

I just cut the sides of my onesie with my scissors. I keep the original template handy and use it to trace what I need to cut once I fold the card in half.
My punch would also not go through the 2 layers until I sharpened it by punching through foil (I used heavy duty folded 1 or 2 times) and then by punching through waxed paper. You won't believe the huge difference this makes, the punch went through no problem!
I have used Lauren's tutorial without a problem. I have the cards posted in my gallery, but I have more pics here on my blog.
I add cute baby bling to my cards, just for fun!
I used one of my circle Nestabilities dies for the neck scoop at the top...I also had a hard time using a punch on the "fold" of the card...it wouldn't go through. I kind of liked how the die looked though because it gave it a nice embossed edge, it worked great! I used a punch for the leg holes and that worked just fine.
Here's my card...everyone at the baby shower I took this to loved it!
