Default Attaching Vellum

How do you attach vellum to a card without eyelets? I've tried the vellum dots which is just glue on transparency and it didn't work. Ideas please!

I normally use eyelets or brads, but other great options that work well are using a Xyron machine to essentially turn it into a sticker, or apply spray adhesive. As long as the entire back of the vellum is completely covered in adhesive, it won't show up on the finished card.

You could also use SNAIL or a glue dot, and just apply an embellishment over the spot! ;)

Smile Vellum

I bought some Vellum tape at Wal-mart, very inexpensive. It is on a paper backing. You cut the desired amount, put the piece of tape you just cut, face down(tape side exposed) on the vellum. Then I run my bonefolder firmly on the paper backing to get the tape to stick to the vellum. Remove the paper backing and then your vellum will have the tape on it, and it is ready to stick down. The tape is pretty much invisible. I hope this helps. I love the stuff.

I use my Xyron and it works great and doesn't show.

I haven't had any good luck with ANY brand of 'vellum tape' (they all show through).

I've stamped on the vellum, and then attached it to my LAYERING for the card, folded it around the back of the layering, and taped it down on the back of the layering. NOW, attach your layering to your actual card.

Works perfect and stays in place!

OMG the best product by far is Creative Memories Frosted Splits! If anyone in Canada is looking for a CMC you can find me (and this great product) at www.mycmsite.com/karyn

I had used the Vellum tape prior made by 3M with no success. These splits don't show a thing.

This is when sewing directly on cards is REALLY handy! It gives a nice finish and it keeps the vellum on!

I use a spray adhesive, check the can to make sure it lists vellum. Hold the can at arms length from the vellum, spray evenly and lightly. Wait a few moments make sure it doesn't look wet but is tacky then attach. Looks great and you don't have to hide tape marks etc. I get mine at a discount store, it has lasted me years. PS. Spray outside so not to sticky furniture from over spray.

I usually try to find a way to attach it with ribbon or brads or cover up the area with the adhesive with paper. Here is one I made with a ribbon to attach the velum.

I to have struggled with using Vellum until I found the vellum adhisive sheets put out by Glue Dots. Michaels carries these but they are not with the scrapbooking supplies. They are usually around the area in the store with the adhesives. This stuff comes on app. 3x4 sheets so you can cut the size you need. It does not show through at all! I am loving it and finally starting to use up some of my Vellum stash!

I have some different way to attach vellum on my blog - in response to a similar thread last year.

Here is the link:
http://stampez.typepad.com/my_weblog..._attachin.html

I like to let it hang free - so that it is not all held down to the card. Most vellum tapes seem to yellow after a little time. My favorite way is to put it behind a layer and fold it over to the front.

Default Attaching Vellum

Check out the self adhesive "Stickstock Vellum" that CTMH carries. It comes in 8 1/2 X 12 1/2 sheets so you can put it in your printer. It's just like regular vellum, only sticky!!

You can check it out here: mysistershobby.myctmh.com

A tip for using the vellum tape...my tape has directions that say... Adhere tape to paper, CS, etc. Burnish then remove liner and add vellum onto project over tape. It recomends that not sticking it directly to the vellum. Hope this helps.

I have found the SU anywhere glue sticks work well.
I also use my xyron - esp for larger areas.

The glue dots vellum dot sheets are good too - I've used them with transparencies as well as vellum with good results.

I think I read somewhere that you can use mono adhesive, and then take the heat gun to it and it disappears...can't say as I've ever tried it, as I do use the Vellum tape, which is much more lasting with burnishing it on.

I've tried the Creative Memories Frosted Splits and they showed through the vellum. I also tried SU Glue Dots and they show through the vellum. So I haven't had any luck - but will have to try the Xyron or the Adhesive Spray.

I must admit that making the whole backside of the vellum sticky seems unlikely to work to me. However, I guess I'll give it a try.

That's too bad that you had back luck with the splits-did you talk to your CM rep aboutit? I've never had a problem-using CM and non-CM vellum.

I xyron smallish pieces but for larger pieces I use an eyelet or brad - it's just faster and easier for me.

To "Minneapple":
The ONLY adhesive I have found that WORKS is the Glue Dots "Vellum"(in the violet package) You get 10 sheets in a package. It is TRUELY transparent and works FANTASTIC!! BEST adhesive on the market! Works EVERY time I use it!
Good luck! Stampin Busia

Fold it around the sides of the front of the card. Then you can glue it on the back. Otherwise, there is Glue Rings that is awesome. Unfortunately I have thrown away the packaging -- I don't know who makes it
