Default TLC980 -Faux Die-Cut Inlay - 12-04-2023

Well, here we are in December. I had been thinking of the telescoping snowman as a fun technique, but then thought that maybe many people are already finished with Christmas 23 as far as cards go, and that perhaps I should go non-Christmas. So I went back to an Inkling Tutorial from Spring 2020 that I have always wanted to try - Faux Die-cut Inlay.

I have never been sure what dies I had that would work, but when I thought about it, I realised I had several that would be good, although both the ones I ended up using have minimal inlay it certainly saves on cutting from multiple different colours of paper/card.
I would point out that if you use what Ardyth has as steps 4 - 7, adding an extra layer of colour, you may well end up with some actual real inlay as I did on my star card. In this case, as with all inlays, make sure to keep the tiny little itty bits! But if you just go from step 3 to finishing your card, it's super-easy.

Tutorial is here: Faux Diecut Inlay Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers

Once you've created your card, upload it to the Faux Die-Cut Inlay gallery (Technique Spotlight from the first drop-down, Faux Die-Cut Inlay from the second) using the keyword TLC980.
As always, it's recommended that you come back and add a link here in case of gallery glitches or typo keywords (they take an AGE to synch if you get them wrong and need to edit).

Here's a link to our TLC980 Faux Die-Cut Inlay gallery

If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how:
1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread.
2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link.
3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on)
4. Click EDIT. Click COPY
5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.

Thank you for this fun challenge a first for me I think, I've used only water colors and stamped the sentiment: Tulips

Thanks for revisiting this technique. I looked through the gallery and my first attempt was underwhelming! I don't think I had the right kind of die at the time. I kept this simple...didn't do anything to the background.
