Welcome!!
It's my turn to host the TLC this week. Have you ever noticed how what you see depends on your focus? This week's technique is inspired by this card by Michelle Zindorf. Her card uses geometric shapes and masking (including reverse masking) to focus interest on the fireflies. It is similar to retiform, but instead of breaking the images up into retiform (grid) sections, it breaks the background up into geometric shapes. It leaves the images unified as one image.
So the challenge is to add masked geometric shapes to your background to create abstract interest and focus for your card.
There is also a tutorial for Reverse Masking but I didn't want to show you the full technique. For this challenge, you would simply be sponging on a little color inside the circle (using the negative die to mask the rest of the card.) On the attached ATC, note the blush of color on the edges of the circle.
Remember to use the keyword TLC966 when you are uploading. It's helpful if you come back and leave a link on this thread, especially in case you made a typo and people may not find your card.
If you're not sure how to link your card on the thread here, here's how: 1. Open 2 windows or tabs: one window for your card and one for this thread. 2. In this thread, click on reply and type anything you want to show before the link. 3. Go to your card window. Highlight the address for your card. (It says www. splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showphoto..... and so on) 4. Click EDIT. Click COPY 5. Go back to this thread. Click PASTE.
Fun! I loved how this came out and would definitely try this again when I have more time to plan what stamps to use to make better use of the circle elements. TLC966 Birthday Frog by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers
Beverly- great challenge, thanks! I added some geometric sponging to my otherwise plain flower card- then embellished with a button/bow combo and a hand lettered sentiment. Here's Sending Hugs

This was really fun! The best part was when I had already applied the ink to my background and was looking for a nice sentiment to stamp... I forgot I had this MLK quote and was delighted to see that I had unknowingly created a sort of abstract staircase!!! "Masked Steps" by lorettagrace at Splitcoaststampers
I love this technique and all of the cards in the gallery are amazing. When I have a chance, I have to give this a try. Michelle Zindorf does some amazing things and you picked a good one to try.
