Here's my 2nd attempt. It doesn't show up very well in the picture but I thought I would use the brayer on glossy first with Temp. Turq. Here you go....
Here is mine for this challenge! Just noticed someone else did one with autumn leaves so I will have to check that one out. Thanks for looking and for sharing!

Happily stampin' away the day!
Here's another. It was inspired by kerryp's pink snowflakes. I hadn't thought to brayer color under the soot until I saw her card. Thanks for sharing!!
For those of you who haven't tried the technique yet, please heed my warnings on the tutorial! I had a few singed pieces of glossy cardstock before.
LOL....but then...I am quite a klutzy person.

Thanks for a great challenge Beth. So glad you reposted this one as I've always been meaning to try it out but never have gotten around to it. I had plans to work on some DDgallery stuff today but I guess I'll just have to get to that later.
I used hairspray as the sealant. It had pearl ex in it so it now has a shimmer and almost a polished stone look where the pearl ex has bunched together.
This was harder than I thought it would be. Managed to scratch the soot with the candle wick and mess up some. I stamped several images, but don't have time right now to play anymore with this. Here's my burnt chicken.

I want to try this! It looks like fun. Thanks for the reminder about this technique, Beth. I've wanted to try it but haven't gotten around to it yet. Now I have a good excuse! Can't wait to see what you gals have done.

I don't really stamp much. I'm just here for the company.
I am leaving soon for a mornig bike ride, but was wondering if there is anything you can do if you don't have glossy cardstock. And JoAnne's happens to be near where we are biking, so do they have an equivelant if nothing else will do? I/ve never done this before, and I hate to sit by and watch others have all the fun!
If you don't have glossy, maybe you can try metallic cardstock. Here's one I did awhile back but never posted:
OK, so I'll move the furniture to cover the burn mark on the carpet before my husband gets home and the Dr. says that the 4 yr wont have permanent scars, BUT here;s my soot stamping!! HA HA HA
I just finished my card. I did something wrong when I uploaded, My card ended up in my gallery but not in the Soot Stamping gallery. So I will try to fix that. but here is the link. Wonderful Wings
I really liked this technique. Thanks Beth. My card is not greenish like the scan shows on my computer.

Great challenge -- of course, once I did read the tutorial again, I realized the flame had to be on the glossy cardstock and that a votive just wasn't going to cut it, so I grabbed up a taper (but strongly urge taking it to the garage if you don't want the candle wax to drip on your floor). Anyway, here's mine:

Okay, you just made me feel better. I kept singe-ing the edges!! I finally just left it and let it become part of the "look"!!
I did 3. This was sooo much fun, but the first piece of CS went up in flames. I will NOT teach this to my Girl Scouts. Here's my fave:Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
Here's my strange little entry. I don't know if I would do this technique but at least I can say I tried it. I'm cleaning the ashes off my drapes with a swifter.......just kidding!
Wow - I had just seen a "soot" card last night in someone's gallary and was wondering what it meant! My surprise to find out it was the technique challange today. It was fun. Thanks for the challenge.
I am another failure with this attempt. DS accused me of trying to burn down the house. He stuck around to see the results though. I got a great snowman image, but when I sprayed it with sealer it all became a puddle and disappeared. I ruined a sheet of glossy before giving it up. Hope I can find a different sealer and try it again sometime in the future.
I did two of these so far. My kids were a hoot watching wide-eyed as I moved the cs across the flame. I put it out several times! LOL Sunflowers and SootSooty Sunflowers

Everyone's cards are just so beautiful. This was a wonderful challenge and a great opportunity to learn something new. I really enjoyed this one a lot. I notice that a few people used leaves, so did I. Here is mine...Happy Fall
Could not wait to try this one. Cut my finger pretty bad this evening, but that did not stop me (I think I managed to not get any blood on my card, hehe). Here it is... Gallery at Splitcoaststampers
I finally sat down and played with this sooty thing! Its fun! Got to do it again.
Looking through my stamps to decide, I picked the city. TFL! City of David with sooty background
This was the first time I ever tried or even heard of this technique. I was probably setting a bad example for my DD - especially if she develops my pyromaniac tendencies!!!
I was so impressed with the cards I had seen today. The technique reminds me of old photography or negatives. It would be great for heritage pages in a scrapbook or for a collage. Thanks so much for the challenge, which for me was an introduction. I love it!
Here's a few cards I managed to put together tonight for TLC81 . . . PetalWish SootyProvencal
Beth, thank you so much for making this the challenge! I've wanted to do it for a long time, but was afraid I'd catch the house on fire! I didn't, so here's my card!
My TLC81 Sooty Friendship card. What a treat to be stamping again after our vacation and getting caught up at home. I just had a blast and liked the results too. As always, much prettier IRL. Thanks for looking, Nancy
Oh what fun- I played all day today! I enjoyed this so much, that I made 5 of these Halloween cards. I had 6 but one started on fire repeatedly and I had to trash it (although the thought of a new kitchen did cross my mind....). Thanks to everyone who posted the Halloween cards that inspired me to try this!

I haven't ever done this and I read about the different challanges every day so I finally got the courage to try one, it sounded so fun. Fire and stamping!
Well, this was a lot harder than it looks! It took me three tries to get a main image that I liked and was sealed - cheapo hairspray has its drawbacks. All in all - I'm really glad I tried this technique. Thanks for the challenge Beth.
