TLC416 ~ Dry Embossing and Sanding on Patterned Paper ~ (02/11/13)
Hello everyone!! It is my turn to host the Technique Lover's Challenge and I have a fun and easy challenge this week....we are going to dry emboss and sand on patterned paper!!How easy is that!!!
Here are the deets:
1. Use any patterned paper and any embossing folder you want (just don't use card stock). If you don't have any patterned paper, use a page from an old book, copy of a picture, or a page from a magazine or newspaper.
2. After dry embossing your paper, gently sand the raised part with a sanding block, emory board, or even a piece of a brown paper bag (a brown paper bag is the the best soft sanding tool you will find!!)
3. If you can't find the right folder you can score on the designer paper but remember to sand the raised part. The sanding adds a little distressing and dimension. 4. Use the embossed paper anywhere on your project and be sure to have fun!!!
Joan, what a fun technique challenge today. Here's mine . The sanding may be hard to see, but it's there.

Oh, silly me. I had to read that twice. I thought you were asking us to put SAND on a card! LOL
Melody, I thought the same thing until I read it again.

Joan, I had no idea that you could use a brown bag to sand! Thanks for the great tip! I hope to make a card for this challenge in the next couple of days.
Joan- Great challenge! I used my ginger grater for "sanding" my embossed paper- and used 2 of my mice stamps for fun. Here's Mice Morning Routine in honor of the beginning of the traditional workweek!

I love doing this with Core'dinations. It will be interesting to try with DP! My sanding block is all ready on my desk saying "use me", but it will have to wait till I get home from work. Thanks, Joan, for a fun idea.

My craft space and dinning room table is knee-deep is left-overs from our crazy VSBN weekend, so I am sure I have a perfect piece of patterned paper for this challenge. I will be back later with my creation...
Good Morning! I used Penny Black's Xmas Dreams for my companion card to my first Morning themed one- added a reverse cut "S" and a coffee sleeve background to my hand lettered sentiment- vertical border is embossed, sanded with a Ginger grater, and distressed. Here's Sleepy Mouse

Fun challenge! I want to try the technique again with a different pattern paper. This had a pattern of a flat globe but after embossing, you just can't see it.
