Very cool technique Lynn!! I think I'm with some of the others and don't have the napkins (the pretty ones anyway!) and no freezer paper. Perhaps I can shop and try it out another time because it looks like fun!!:-D THANKS!

I've got lots of Scooby Doo, Star Wars, Buzz Lightyear and those kinds of napkins I'll have to check my Christmas storage to see what is in there for this.
No freezer paper so I'll have to run out later in the day. Thanks Lynn for another unique challenge, it sounds like fun!

Lynn, this is such a great technique! I have been saving a pack of Target napkins for MONTHS! LOL!
Well, you can keep this technique in your arsenal for future use. Perhaps next time you are at a party and see a pretty napkin, you can bring an extra one home. :mrgreen:

The local meat markets will have butcher paper and I am sure they would sell some. In this economy I believe any store owner would sell any product they have! I know I buy cake boards from a local bakery. I let them do the storage.
Very interesting technique! I found plenty of pretty napkins, but no freezer paper. I just tried wax paper, parchment paper and the cling wrap method and none of the three alternatives worked for me. If I can pick up some freezer paper this week, I'll give this a try later on. Thanks, Lynn!
OOOO.....I was just wondering if wax paper would work.....guess not!! OK, maybe I'll just have to swing by the store when I drop the kids off to school (and might have to pick up some napkins too. I'm afraid that I might only have Batman or knight theme napkins up in the "left overs"!!)
Just check to see that the butcher paper has the waxy coating on one side. The butcher paper my super market uses does not.

Try plastic bags. I just used my Price Chopper bag. I layered waxpaper, cardstock plastic bag (cut to size) napkin, and wax paper. It worked like a charm.
All the napkins have at least two layers. even though you may not think they do. If you iron the napkin first the layers will come apart very easy. Also if you go ahead and try without separating you get a lighter effect then you can use it again.
Isn't amazing what we find that works...necessity is the mother of invention! Thanks for sharing your find. Awesome.

Oh, I can't wait to give this a try. I think I've got napkins and possibly even freezer paper. Now I just have to clean off my craft table a bit so I have room to work. Not sure how that always get so cluttered so fast...

Oh, this looks like so much fun, but I don't have freezer paper, only parchment and waxed paper. I live an hour away from the nearest store, so I fear I won't be able to try this technique till wednesday. I have the napkins though, because I bought them when I saw you said we would need them for this week. Could I kindly request a COMPLETE list of supplies one week before the challenges, so we can all have them ready? I love all the great techniques you come up with, but when you live in the rural countryside like I do, quick access to a store isn't possible, and I really want to play along.
I'll try to do a better job of listing upcoming supply lists without giving away the challenge. I think if you have decorative corner punches and cardstock, you're set to go with next week's challenge. ;)

Lynn, I know you said save your paper napkins last week. I had none then, I have none now. Grocery stores don't carry freezer paper here. I live in a cave, apparently.
HOWEVER, I can hardly wait to see what everyone else who doesn't live in a cave comes up with. It looks like an amazing technique!!!!!!!
I don't think any store or grocery stores carry freezer paper in Canada...I've looked all over too for another technique a looooooooong time ago....I was printing on canvas material and needed to iron it on freezer paper so it would go through the printer...well hubby went to the butcher and got some from him...but I threw it out thinking I may never use it again...

You can use this technique with tissue paper also. I ball up the tissue paper to give it a wrinled look then iron on the freezer paper. Very neat back grounds. Gives you a wider veriaity of papers. Hope this gives you more choices.

VERY fun challenge - thank, Lynn!
Here is one that I did for a shoe box swap a while ago and just happened to find left over pieces yesterday--how perfect is that. I will whip up the other one too since there were extras of that one too. I am thrilled to be using these left overs. I would have let them sit longer if not for this challenge-now that the stuff is out might as well finish up. Thanks Lynn.
Feels like a productive day -- tee hee. Here is the second one made up with the left over pieces from the show box swap and technique class. I was going to add to them but decided to leave as is because I wanted to focus on the technique.
Yes Michelle - I watched your tutorial a few weeks ago and was ready to try this technique...had the napkin separated and everything...just didn't get around to it...why am I such a procrastinator these days?? Maybe I'll give it another shot when I get home.
I used the cling wrap method with Saran Wrap and it worked like a charm!!! Thanks for this great challenge and thanks Bensarmom for linking the cling wrap instructions as well! Here's my card:

Neither of my baking parchments worked, nor did two types of cling film.
So it was the spray-mount after all.
Not very imaginative bu i like it, and I'll try to do something with some of the flowers I cut out later on... Paper Napkin Christmas
This sounds like a great idea. And the best part is, I already have napkins that I purchased last year for 10 cents on a clearance rack.

I finally got it to work perfectly using a piece of a regular plastic bag from the grocery store as suggested by Pam (pammyrn) in post#50 here.

This was a fun techique to try! I had never heard of it before. I have pretty napkins that I'll have to use for another card later, but I chose a Spiderman one today for my nephew's upcoming birthday.
I got some time to play today so I made a quick and simple card. I don't have the freezer paper so I used the tried and tested technique I was taught a long time ago which uses acetate and a glue stick.
