Thanks for posting the directions to that card. I will have to try to make some of those cards. Would make great masculine birthday cards too.

I love these little shirts, but was afraid that they would be complicated to make. I was surprised at how easy they are! Here is my card that can be used for pretty much any manly occasion!

Talking Thank You!!!

I taught several students in the Special Ed class I work with how to do those origami shirts. They made the shirts, pasted them to a card, and gave them to their fathers for Father's Day!
Thanks again for the GREAT idea!!

This did actually make it in time to my Dad for Father's Day - it's since been languishing in my camera. I used shoji screen paper for the shirt, the pattern is too big to see in the picture, but the paper is beautiful IRL.

Here are the directions:

http://members.tripod.com/cecilia_liu/shirt.htm

I had a little trouble initially with the directions, so I’m going to add some measurements for you. The steps are the same as the link.
PLEASE PRACTICE FIRST WITH PLAIN COPY PAPER!!!! And I'm not sure that you can do this with cardstock...you might need to use thin designer paper, or stamp on the copy paper.

Using a full sheet of paper:
Step 1 and 2: fold as directed.
Step 3: Fold back the top edge by 3/4”.
Step 4: Fold the corners in so that the corners meet at the center fold 3/4” down from the top folded edge.
Step 5: These folds will make the sleeves. Measure up 3 ” from the bottom of the paper in the center (where the edges of the paper meet). From that point, make the triangles folding outward as shown.
Step 6: Fold the bottom edge up and wedge it under the collar flaps before creasing it. The front of the shirt from the top of the shoulders to the bottom is approximately 4 ”

If you want to make a smaller shirt that would fit on a normal sized card, use a piece of designer paper measuring 4” x 5 ”.
Step 1 and 2: fold as directed.
Step 3: Fold back the top edge by ”.
Step 4: Fold the corners in so that the corners meet at the center fold ” down from the top folded edge.
Step 5: These folds will make the sleeves. Measure up 1 ” from the bottom of the paper in the center (where the edges of the paper meet). From that point, make the triangles folding outward as shown.
Step 6: Fold the bottom edge up and wedge it under the collar flaps before creasing it. The front of the shirt from the top of the shoulders to the bottom is approximately 2 ”.

Please use the keyword TLC119 when you upload.

Have fun!
Thank you so so much for the measurements. I struggled with the original directions but you made it a breeze!

Karte_mit_Origamihemd_und_Geb-Gruss_by_Nessie by Nessie at Splitcoaststampers

I made this card for a friend of my son. This guy turned 13 today and seemed to like the shirt card. Instead of stamping a 13 or using stickers, I stamped this ruler and marked the 1 and 3 with a highlighter pen. That matched the yellow tie quite well.
What do you think?

First attempt at the Origami shirt. I followed the directions for the full sheet of paper, and then had to make a card base that was almost 6 x 9" in order to accommodate it the shirt! (And the sleeves still stick out over the sides. Thankfully I did not have to mail this card.)
