the Sisterhood of the Traveling Teaparty
and Challenge #342
Heigh Ho, Heigh Ho, It's Off to the Fishing Hole We Go
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! If this is your first Teapot Tuesday Challenge, please mention that in your commentary so we can be sure to greet you properly, in pure Teapot Tuesday fashion! Your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not at all required. Just have fun!
The Rest of the Story:
1: Fishing season is all year round if you are as dedicated as Larry, Jerry, and Gary. These guys plan Boy vacations around the Salmon run, planned mental health days for first day of trout season, and even try some ice fishing if it gets cold enough. Week-ends are usually spent making flies and telling lies....Oooops, I mean fish stories....heehee.
2: This year the big Boy trip is going to be to Snake river for a week of fly fishing, beer drinking, story telling, and hopefully there will be some fish brought home for the freezer. Plans are being made, maps drawn up, reservations made, and coolers aired out.
3: Each one also has their own little side hobbies that have to go along as well. Larry can't be far away from his ham radio so the portable set up has to be packed. Gary is always happy to laze away in the hammock reading the latest true crime novel. And Jerry loves to scout around for various pieces of wood for his new hobby of woodworking. He has become pretty good and is now making knife handles.
4: The big trip has begun and they have arrived at the campsite. Gary has the hammock hung but he had to hang it from the light poles as there aren't any trees large enough. Larry is setting up his ham station. And Jerry is looking around in dismay. What the travel web site didn't say was that there had been a huge fire here 2 yrs ago and although still beautiful, the area trees are now only saplings. The forest has been diminished to a few square miles and no foraging is allowed.
5: Jerry does find a couple small pieces of driftwood but now he has a real dilemma, he has been planning on making new knives for the guys and for his boys for Christmas. And he doesn't have any wood that will make a good handle.
Challenge Translation:
Bring maple, pecan, ash, cedar, pine, any kind of wood that you think is beautiful. Bring wood working tools, and maybe even some tools to harvest that wood. Don't be bringin no burnt wood or it's the back door for you.
