MMTPT339 ~ Jan 27/2015 ~ If You Go Down To The Woods Today...
WELCOME TO TEAPOT TUESDAY THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING TEAPARTY AND CHALLENGE #339
MMTPT339 If You Go Down To The Woods Today...
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! If this is your first Teapot Tuesday Challenge, please mention that in your commentary so we can be sure to greet you properly, in pure Teapot Tuesday fashion! Your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not at all required. Just have fun!
I (Sabrina) am your hostess for the Tickle this month, and Im sorry, gals, you are NOT in for a big surprise down in the woods today ;). I really wanted to use this photo of an amazing quilted/patchwork teapot I took at an exhibition some years ago, and I had a write-up all ready to go - about dreaming of summer colour in the garden, and seed catalogues and giving any of you who have seed-pack stamps a chance to use them. Of course, when I read Sheris challenge for last week, I had to hit the delete button on mine and start over, so apologies for the lame write-up. But isnt it an amazing teapot!!
So - were going down to the woods today, but I will indeed be surprised if there are any teddy bears! Instead, we are going to find all the treasures of a woodland; carpets of bluebells, tall spires of foxgloves, and rosebay willowherb (fireweed), dainty white wood anemones, and not so dainty (smelling) wild garlic. Maybe well come across some mushrooms while we are foraging - and dont forget the woodland animals like deer, foxes, rabbits...just maybe a real bear, but definitely NO teddybears ;-).
One of my most magical woodland moments was sitting near a clearing after a sudden spring snowstorm, watching some foxes playing. We also go looking for blackberries and wild sloe, and I used to go dog-walking in a wood which had a little hidden stand of delicious wild raspberries, so if thats what takes your fancy, go foraging for some tasty woodland treats. Just dont pick any toxic toadstools or run into any poison ivy!! Im sorry if some of my flower names dont make sense in other parts of Teapotter Land, but they are the ones I am familiar with.
So - get out your tree stamps and embossing folders and stencils, and show us your best woodland scene.
CHALLENGE TRANSLATION: Create a woodland scene. EPEC: In view of the design of the teapot, you get extra cookies this week if you include REAL stitching or fabric on your card. Felt is fabric!!
DESTINATION STATION: This week our destination is each other! Once a month, we send our cards to each other! A little payback and reward to the teapotters for always sending their cards to the recipient of the Destination Station.
I have started this new thread in the Teapot Tuesday Extras Forum. If you are participating in the card exchange please go to this thread and follow the instructions.
Be sure to you use KEYWORD MMTPT339 in your upload and post a comment here so we can all see your card!
Ever want to get a jump on next week's challenge card? SCS has given Sheri (KSNurse) permission to create an email Teapot Tuesday Cheater Group and email the challenge out on the Saturday before the Tuesday of the challenge so you girls can have the weekend to make your card. Send her a pm with your email address if you want to be a Cheater!
If you are confused about these challenges, see the first sticky post of this thread for more information. There is also a directory of individual challenges.
I'll be along with my card later - I didn't get it finished in time to upload last night. I was still adding Stickles and Liquid Pearls after I went to bed, LOL, and there's one more stage to go when I get home from work. Housework had to happen yesterday ;-), and getting our gas meter replaced.

Oh, Sabrina, I can't bring my teddy bears? LOL. First thing I thought of was a teddy bears picnic! Have a busy day today, but plan on playing. Have to, I already signed up for the tickle!

Here is my card for the MMTPT339 Challenge - A Beautiful Hike (into the woods). Notice fabric was used for extra cookies. I hope that counts as fabric! TFL!
I am just starting my scenic stamp collection. They called to me when I read the details of this weeks challenge. I had a choice of evergreen trees, mountains, and a waterfall, but I chose the riverbank scene because of the leafy green trees that make up the composition. I think of them as birch trees and make a great woodland environment. The foremost logs are a beaver dam, the beaver is off foraging right now so did not make an appearance I do have the migrating birds stamp which added to the creature count in my scene. I could not find any small enough ground "critters" and was too timid to try to hand draw anything living in the scene. But trust me they are all there! I DID order a selection of the smallest critters available for future projects. I ordered, a heron, bear, buck, horse, cows and a barn (not a critter I know, but the cow and horse need shelter). I do have a tent, hikers and canoe, but this scene is for the woodland creatures not man.
I feel an affinity for the teapot challenge because I am always making up stories about just about anything. My husband is amused at my wild imagination. I can see an object in the road and I will relate a creative tale of how it came to be there. After 30 years together my husband now preempts my stories asking me, so how did that object get there do you think?
I plan to hone my Teapotter skills as another creative outlet! I thank the group for coming up with such an elaborate challenge!
Glad to see you coming to the tea party, and hope you continue to join us - your card is stunningly peaceful and beautiful!! Welcome!!!!
