It's the last Tuesday of the month so that means it's time for our Teapot Tuesday Tickle Challenge
This week's challenge is brought to you by me, as has become my habit over the last few years.
CHALLENGE:
Last year I chose hope as my theme - and we certainly still need that for next year. I have also used lighthouses as a positive encouraging theme, and bridges as we move from one year to the next.
This year, although I know it's still December, I was thinking about January and the Roman god Janus with two faces, looking back and forwards, at beginnings and endings.
So for our cards this month, I have two parts.
For the card-making part, I am asking you to decorate BOTH sides of the card front. You may have some of those innie and outie stamps sets, in which case you're well set. But it doesn't matter if you don't, you can decorate the inside any way you like. It doesn't have to match the front, it can be totally unrelated. (To make it clear, if you have the card open, I am asking you to decorate the left-hand side, not the right side where you would normally stamp a sentiment or write a greeting. Think of the card front as a coin - you have the "head" and "tail" of the coin, the front that you see when you take the card out of the envelope, and then the other side of the front.
*For the non-cardmaking part, I'd like you to look back on this last year and share one highlight - it can be a tiny thing that sparked happiness, it doesn't have to be anything major. For example, we camped in my brother's field for a few days in July. It sure wasn't France, which we had to cancel yet again - but it was right when we had a heatwave and that gave it a real holiday feel. The first evening we invited my brother and SIL "over" and shared a bottle of wine and just chatted and relaxed. The next day we went to a beach, and I literally teared up when we got out of the car and walked onto the sand. After a year and a half of not seeing the sea, that was a powerful emotional experience.
The first evening we were also slightly alarmed when the neighbours started harvesting their field about 10.30 at night - bright lights heading straight towards us, and very loud!

Moving the challenge in the small hours of the morning, I didn't have time for part #2 of the challenge, although I did already share a couple of highlights from our camping holiday.
Another thing that gave me many happy moments was watching the birds in the park. I had been watching swans sitting on a nest, and was lucky enough to see the cygnets just after they had hatched - but I don't appear to have uploaded my videos from that. I was absolutely engrossed watching a late brood of tufted duck chicks diving. The water where I was watching them was quite shallow, so I could see them diving and swimming considerable distances. The only video I can easily find to share is some little early brood tufted ducksmallard chicks on one of the ponds in the zoo. There should be another video of a thrush bathing, but although it's on my blog, I can't figure out how to look it.
So I guess you can say that bird watching has brought me many small moments of delight and wonder throughout the year. https://photos.app.goo.gl/d7ipeLMAGgp42ict8
Here's mine...I'm not good at combining photos (even though I have an app but I still can't figure it out...who knows)...so I had to post it in two parts...Thanks Sabrina for the challenge and for all you do coordinating the tickles each month!!
My bright spot in 2021 was a virtual weekend with my 5 sisters - They all got together for a Sister's Weekend at my youngest sibling's new home. I joined periodically throughout the day via facetime - They even sent me all the official drinkware for the weekend. From alcohol beverages Friday at 5 PM to Coffee together Saturday Morning and lots of crafts and chat in between - I got to be there in heart and real time.

Sorry to have to miss this challenge and looks fun but have family here and all 7 grandkids get to play with each other so no puter time---cards all look neat---have a safe New Year---Hugs, DonnaJeanne
Here is my card that took me forever, but I got it done. Yeah One highlight of my year was being with my family for the holidays. I have not seen my sons in almost 2 years. It was also a joy to go throught all of John's cards. that you all sent to him. So I consider this a blessed ending to what I would call a bad year for me in some ways.. I'm looking forward to the new year with happy beginings. so far so good.
My card is a bit late, since I've been sick all last week. I did make it before the next Tuesday Teapot Challenge!
The highlight of my year was being able to celebrate with all my grandchildren at my youngest granddaughter's first birthday party. It was so wonderful to be with all of them again since Covid hit.

I do not remember how to get my link into a 'WORD". I wanted to type two faces and have you click on it and that would bring you to my card, however I just do not remember how to do it. So...here is what I thought of when I read TWO FACES.
The one greatest highlight of my year: It's a bit of a story so I apologize for the length of this post
My brother adopted his wife's grandson. Eian is his name. I called my brother and asked for ideas for Christmas gifts. My brother called me and said Eian would not give him any ideas so I asked to speak with Eian. After asking Eian myself for ideas this child said to me "Please do not make me say what I would like. It's easier to get nothing then it is to have my parents take my gifts back to the store." He is 11 years old!!! Oh my gosh y'all broke my heart.
After convincing him that nobody will ever do that to him again, he gave me some ideas and of course I went overboard and got him everything. When it came time to open gifts, y'all this boy sat in front of my whole family and cried and said "Thank you so much!!! This is the best Christmas I have ever had and I will remember it forever!!!!"
His birthday is coming up in Feb so I can't wait!!!!!
Anyways...for me...that was the best moment ever.....seeing that child so happy he cried happy tears!!!!!
That is maybe the best story/memory of all. I'm getting "leaky" just reading it. May this fellow have much joy from here on in.
Thank you. I have to agree, he's had a hard life already. I couldn't imagine having both of my parents addicted to drugs. I am going to do all I can to help this young man enjoy life.
I'm just getting around to posting my card. I had to put on my thinking cap for this one but then it all worked out. I knew I wanted to include a house for my non-card portion because the highlight of 2021 for me was building and moving into our new house.
I need to cancel a Teapot request. It was for Kristen Vengler. Circumstances have changed and I MUST cancel. Thank you to whomever helps me with this. Sharon White
