Welcome to Teapot Tuesday
the Sisterhood of the Traveling Teaparty
and Challenge #347
Whykickamoocow Meets the Wild, Wild West
Hi everyone, it's Susie Williams here, aka susie australia. I have the huge pleasure of hosting teaparties where 5 Tuesdays fall in a month.
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! If this is your first Teapot Tuesday Challenge, please mention that in your commentary so we can be sure to greet you properly, in pure Teapot Tuesday fashion! Your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not at all required. Just have fun!
Whykickamoocow Meets the Wild Wild West
There is great excitement building in the town of Whykickamoocow. As a result of winning the South Australian Tidy Towns competition 8 years in a row, the good folk of Whykickamoocow, pronounced why-kick-a-moo-cow, have won the honour of hosting this years State Fair, the theme being The Wild, Wild West....
Whykickamoocow is a progressive town; they were the first in the area to get an automatic teller machine! Unfortunately old Mrs. Perkins lost her footing and crashed head first into it, causing her new dentures got caught in the money dispensing mechanism, thus creating a short in the electrical wiring and triggering the fire alarm!!
The W.V.F.B. (Whykickamoocow Volunteer Fire Brigade) arrived on the scene in super quick time. Thankfully Mr. Perkins was on the fire truck and he recognised Mrs. P's floral frock flapping in the breeze. Her hem had flipped up in the wind and a part of it got hooked around her bottom denture, covering her face and exposing her bloomers. Mum said that would have been almost as embarrassing as the time her glass eye popped out when she was riding the electric bull at Aunt Mabel’s hen’s night. I digress.
Half of the town had gathered around dear old Mrs. Perkins, everyone offered a solution as to how to remove her and her dentures from the machine. The obvious solution would be to remove Mrs. P from the false teeth first, but she had stuck them in with a two-pack epoxy resin earlier that day.
It was starting to get dark and close to dinner time so the W.V.F.B. fund raising committee quickly got into gear and set up a sausage sizzle. Everyone, other than Mrs. Perkins of course, was having a great time. It was a bit chilly so Merv from the garage on the corner, set up little fire in an old 44 gallon drum......you must know what happens next!! Yes, you are right; the unexpected explosion was enough to dislodge Mrs. P from the teller machine.
Unfortunately the explosion and resulting fire was threatening the town hall where all 42,000 pieces of artworks and artefacts depicting the Wild Wild West were stored. Teapotters to the rescue.....help save the artwork and artefacts.
Challenge translation: Bring artifacts, lassos, dream catchers, log cabins; pictures of trading posts, cowboys and Indians, horses, boots....bring a touch of the wild, wild, west. Its the backdoor if you bring false teeth!! If you need to add a sentiment, how about "Thinking of You" or an inspirational quote.
