MMTPT189 ~ March 13, 2012 ~ This Family of Hearts Just Stole our Tarts!
WELCOME TO TEAPOT TUESDAY
THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING TEAPARTY
AND CHALLENGE #189
This Family of Hearts
Just stole our Tarts
We have no tarts today!
Note: Anyone is welcome to play! You automatically become a Teapotter the first time you play in our challenge. Also, you do not have to write a story. You just have to be inspired by the teapot or by the story about this week's location! Have fun! If this is your first Teapot Tuesday Challenge, please mention that in your commentary so we can be sure to greet you properly, in pure Teapot Tuesday fashion! Your participation in Destination Station is 100% voluntary and not at all required. Just have fun!
This is my story!
1. Who say's Teaparties are always prim and proper, pinky up, sophisticated, well mannered and well behaved? You might take one look at this teapot and think a night of poker and gambling is ahead! But we must be careful, we have a reputation to uphold on Teapot Tuesday, so instead, how about some bridge?
Step #1 ~ Google the Game. What supplies does one need? Are dice used? Are playing cards used? Does one wager one's dental work? Is one's vehicle used? A game of chicken over a bridge?
Step #2 ~ Learn the game. Does one need to know math? Recruit some experts. What does one do to secure victory? Learn what to wear! Is it best to wear one's sunglasses to hide one's shifty eyes?
Step #3 ~ Learn to wager. Know when to hold em. Know when to fold em. Call Kenny Rogers if necessary. Are chips used? If so, are they chocolate? Can other things be used for betting? Perhaps sugar lumps, tea bags or antique lacey doilies?
Step #4 ~ Learn to cheat. Is it best to wear one's long sleeved, loose fitting attire where cards can be hidden? Does one hire extra friends to stand behind one's competitors? Does one develop a secret code, a way to communicate with one's friends? Such as winking one's eyes, twitching one's nose or stroking one's hair three times?
Step #5 ~ Learn to deal with the agony of defeat. Are cookies and treats provided? What activities are available to one no longer in the game? Is there a limit to how many bad hands one can have before one is no longer allowed to play? Is it 42,000?
2. Meet Mary, Milly, Molly and Midge, they're all about Bridge! Meet Holly, Hannah and Heaven, that rounds out the seven! World renound bridge players! Who'da a thunk they would have a break in their busy schedule and be willing to come to a teaparty to teach the game of bridge! It's really quite amazing, surprising and downright unbelievable!
The Queen of Hearts
Must make some tarts
If you want to play!
The King of Hearts
Must call for the tarts
It's the only way!
The Jack of Hearts
Must collect the tarts
And take them clean away!
This Family of Hearts
Just stole our Tarts
We have no tarts today!
3. You just never know when you are gonna get scammed out of your tarts! When something happens that seems too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true! Like the seven famous and world renound Bridge players accepting an invitation in the middle of their busy Bridge season to attend a teaparty and teach 42,000 teapotter wannabe bridge players how to play! Too good to be true! We shoulda known! Con artists! A tart heist! We've been had! Our tarts have gone missing! Amazing! No way! How did it happen? Not surprising in this economy! How were we to know? One of them even went by the name of Heaven! How could a person with name not be trusted?
4. On to Plan B. Hey, we can wing it! How hard could it be? We have no choice now but to teach ourselves to play! Bring what you think we will need to play bridge. We will figure it out as we go! Who knows, we might even invent a whole new game, Teapot Tuesday style! Based on the brief encounter we had with The Almighty Seven, here's what we might need. Playing cards, a king, a queen, somebody named Jack, and some hearts. But, if that whole playing card thing was a scam, we might need your vehicle and a bridge to race over, but if you bring your dental work, you have to come in the back door or at least keep said dental work in your mouth!
CHALLENGE TRANSLATION:
Make a card with playing cards. Make a card with hearts, diamonds, clovers (puppy feet) or spades. If you are don't have cards, bring dice! If you don't have dice, bring a bridge to race over! If you don't like to race, play the game of inspiration and just be inspired by the story and teapot! Remember, we have no rules!
EXTRA POINTS FOR EXTRA COOKIES:
You get extra points for bringing tarts! We are fresh out!
DESTINATION STATION:
This week our destination is Rudolph, Wisconsin. If you would like a destination for your card this week, how about sending them to Rita (scootsv), a fellow SCSer. Most times the recipients of our cards have health issues, are going through personal struggles and our mission is to lift their spirits. This week, its a little different. Instead, its all about appreciation, thanks, and payback for being a kind and generous person with a mission/personal goal to contibute to communities through the giving of hand made cards. That is what Rita is all about.
For more information about Rita as well as the address to mail your card, please visit Post #276 in the Teapot Tuesday Destination Station thread. Please remember that just because you participate in a Teapot Tuesday challenge that is combined with a card drive request, it does not mean that you are REQUIRED to send your cards. It is totally 100% voluntary!
Be sure to you use KEYWORD MMTPT189 in your upload and post a comment here so we can all see your card!
Ever want to get a jump on next week's challenge card? SCS has given me permission to create an email Teapot Tuesday Cheater Group and email the challenge out on the Saturday before the Tuesday of the challenge so you girls can have the weekend to make your card. Send me a pm with your email address if you wanna be a Cheater!
If you are confused about these challenges, see the first sticky post of this thread for more information. There is also a directory of individual challenges. Feel free to grab this I survived Teapot Tuesday Badge for your blog!

THANK YOU ladies! Some of the card arrived today. All I can say is WOW!!! I went into each persons card and posted a thank you for the beautiful themed cards! You all have such neat ideas! I still have not looked at the others. I skimmed past all, just looking for the one exact one I was looking for! It is amazing how you can see, but yet NOT see!

I am 42,000 days late with my gratitude card for Rita, but here it is. It isn't what I intended to make but most it's cute and most importantly, it does express my personal, big thanks for all she does for so many!
late for the teaparty (again) by JD from PAUSA - Cards and Paper Crafts at Splitcoaststampers
Hopefully, smile, the above link is to my card for this week's teapot party. I am very late, (I'm usually late with things...so that is nothing new LOl) I had intended to send Rita a thank you card from my stash, and last night while I was packing up my craft room, I found some neat fabric with playing cards on it...Of course, I had forgotten that I had it...you would understand if you knew how long my poor negleted sewing machine has been sitting these days. Thank you again, Cindy, for a great challenge!

Waaaay Cool!
This is kind of an "unusual"post for a TPT thread but ... I wanted to share this with all of you dear TPTers. I sent a box of paper craft supplies to Rita, along with the TPT "thanks" card I made for her. She acknowledged it with a nice thank you card. Thoughtfully, she used non-permanent adhesive so that, if I chose to, I could re-purpose the card. Today, I did that.
I turned it into a nice Happy 16th Anniversary card for my dear friends. I wanted to share it to show how the cycle of kindness and giving, keeps moving. Sometimes we don't know just how far an act of kindness will lead and I think that's waaaay cool!
Gabby, I just looked at your card and you did a great job on recycling! All of you ladies are so great and do such beautiful work! Thanks for the kind words!
