Well VikkiJo, the roladex thingy wasn't working...to many events some months...AND I didn't want to cut the cards up....so I've got a new plan with a Smash book someone gave me that I'll never use....will let you know how that works...
I only used cards that could be cut without taking anything away from them
I've got the cards put in the smash book and some calender pages made...so now just to do some decorative stamping on some of the plainer papers and I'm done...I think it's gonna work well...will put up a pic when done...
I'd love to try this! I have a huge family so this will be helpful. Two questions though. The cards need to be done one month ahead of time, is that correct? And also on months with less obligations is it ok to post cards 2 months ahead? I didn't even know this existed until I poked around in the gallery! How great!

I am so glad you found us! No goals, just try to make the cards you need for each month. and post in that month's chat thread. We even have challenges to inspire you. No pressure Mine aren't usually made a whole month ahead, although I do try. We just encourage each other and leave love! Always okay to post ahead. Just find right month to post them in! Are you one of those over achievers????
Welcome
more: In the first posts of this thread is more explanation, and links to each month to post that months cards in.
Also, links to challenges if you are interested.
Sharon
Thanks Sharon and Debbie! One or two of my January commitments have already been posted so I shall start from here. I love this idea. Now if I can only keep up and start the Christmas challenge too!
Wow.....I can't believe I haven't joined up for this one! Please add me to the list Sheri. Thanks so much for picking this up for Kelly. This sure helped me last year and I have been keeping up so far this year too! Now I need to go back and catch up from the first page and up to now.......good thing it is only Jan 9th!

Any tips for those months just chock full of birthdays?? I'm keeping up okay so far, but I still need about 12 birthday cards if I want to hit everyone this month. I'd like to make some other occasion cards for the stash so that I can send them as those things come up - sympathy, get well, thank you, etc. but I'm not sure that will happen until May or June. ;)
Maybe the real question is any tips for making card multiples? Not my favorite, but I think I'm gonna have to go that direction in busy months. Just maybe 4 alike?

Multiples could easily be used if you were giving the card to people who don't know each other. Also, you could use one sketch and just use a different image and/or papers.
I have a stash of swap cards in a box, and if I really get short of time, I will use one of them, but I really prefer making a new personalized card.

I showed you mine... now show me yours! LOL
Some of you already know ... I am the NOSIEST person ever! LOL
i want to know how do you keep track of Occasions...
A Book, Written on the Calendar, a Rolodex, Electronic Item (iPad..), Or Google Dates???
Tell me! LOL
Vikki I have two places I need to look for birthdays. One is a perpetual calendar (at the end of each month, I move the next month in front). I inherited it from my mother and she had all family birthdays on it, including the year of birth of all her grandchildren. I just added my friend's birthdays. Then our church puts out a members booklet every year and it has member's birthdays listed by month. So I also check it for cards I need to send.

I do the same as Ina, if I have an idea for a card and it looks good I make a few, especially masculine cards, usually they end up slightly different, I then use them for friends who don't know each other, all close friends and family cards 8 make specially for that person. My stash is usually cards I've made for a challenge.
I sent most of my stash to MD Anderson during HYCCT. I could easily send multiples to people on different sides of the family. My problem is that I can't seem to make them efficiently? I'm going to work at it, though! Just realized there's yet another birthday in January! ;)

The way I've done it a few times... create a OSW for the ladies, the guys and one for the kids, then embellish each card later for each person.
Somewhere here on SCS I have a thread full of OSW patterns and templates.
I use DP for them instead of stamping on the paper to cut up

Hi Ina!
I have my Great Grand Mother's book, it was given to her by her oldest boy for Christmas in 1901.
He wrote a note to her inside the front cover.
My mother wrote a few B'day and other dates in it, but 95% is all my Great Grand Mother's writing.
I keep the year born by their names too on my rolodex

My stash is about the same too. Mojo and SCS Sketches
Shier, the book is totally awesome. I need to make myself one and maybe a few more for presents. If I start on them now, maybe I'll have them done by Christmas 2014
I have a birthday book, maybe I could jazz it up a bit with photos, I could do with laminated pages so I could scrub some items out at the end of the year! Mmm, we do have a laminator at home, that's given me something to think about!
Great idea for the smashbook...Love it! I just found this thread and I'm always having to rush to make cards for birthdays, anniversaries, etc and I'm signed up for the Christmas card challenges so sign me up for 4 cards a month (hopefully I can do more). I'm not sure what I would need to do but I would be interested in hosting a challenge. April or sometime in the fall would be great.
Great to have you Wendy....I put you down for April 15 challenge....thx a bunch..
Oh, another idea for perpetual calendar. I took mine to work to show one of gals there and her idea was to make them for family wedding presents.....GENIUS!!.
Wow....all this organization stuff is getting to me....I'm beginning to think it's a disease....First I unmounted all my stamps....then put them in 3 ring binders.....then cleaned out the paper and other supplies to donate stuff I won't use.....then cleaned the fridg and cupboards and put down new paper....then sorted my card stash, gave a bunch to fundraiser at church and organized them in categories....then last night I couldn't sleep, so I started tearing the pantry apart and got the shelves ready to paint......OMWord...what is wrong with me??? Maybe I shouldn't go to the Dr. for this condition until after the house is in better shape....but it's getting scary.....but I now know that I need thank you cards....I'm down to 2....not good
Hey girls! I'm still making cards! Our internet has been wonky so I haven't been uploading. I'm not ahead yet. I didn't start early enough and I decided to try to send everyone in the family cards this year and there are LOTS of January birthdays. 5 this week alone. But I'm getting there!
I will try to hit the gallery this evening!

Ha! That sounds about right. My mom is the oldest of 7 - all married with kids. I have 6 step-siblings, 1 half-sibling, and two plain old siblings. ;) My husband has 4 older sisters, all who have kids, and many of their kids have kids. Sooo, yeah. I think June and August are my only truly slow months.

Love this! You did an awesome job! I bought the ones from CTMH for the three oldest nieces and nephews that got married in the last year. Still need to get them done, but thought scraps and old stickers would be a good way to decorate and use up some of the stash.

WOW! Glad I don't have that many I have to send. I do however, have to give my sisters crap about poor planning. Of the 9 nieces, nephews and their spouses, 6 have birthdays between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

haha....see and that's why I better not get married...the above is just my dad's family as mom is an only child.....MWAAAHAAA!!!! I don't do kids of cousins as I barely know any of them and you can imagine that would be well into several hundred....
