I was looking thru the galley at "Peaceful Wishes" and found the following card. The card is very nice but I was intrigued by the bow. Probably because I am in the process of making 300 wedding invitations and 100 bridal shower invitations that need bows. (What was I thinking!?!?!) Can anyone help me with instructions or point me to a tutorial on how this bow is made. Here is the link to the card:

That's a very cool bow! I've seen a variation of that before, but not quite like this. The "faux bow" is where you punch two rectangle holes, then take the ribbon and put both ends down through the holes (from the front to the back of the card). Then, cross the ribbon in the back and pull back through the opposite hole. Trim the ends and voila! This kind of bow is nice on a masculine card because it doesn't look frilly. To make the bow on the attached card I would guess that you would use the "faux bow" instructions I gave but instead of trimming the ends, go back through the hole you just came up through to make a loop on each side. Not sure how they got the ends of this bow situated like that. Hmm... I may have to try it. Boy, explaining how to tie a bow in words is tough. Sorry if this is more confusing than helpful!
That is an interesting looking bow. I also think it's done with the ribbon punch for the holes. Maybe it's more than one piece of ribbon. I'll have to try it and see if I can make it happen.

Here is how this bow is done:
The bow is threaded through holes made with a double slot punch. Have you done the one where you insert the ribbon from the top and then thread the ends of the ribbon back through? Well, to create this look, instead of inserting the ends back through, you push the center of the tail back through and pull up as much as you want to make the loops on each side. I use about 8 inches of ribbon and I push it through with the blade of my scissors. Then you finish off by pushing the ends up through the holes and adjusting them to the position you want before trimming them off. This is a pretty tight fit through the holes. I hope this is somewhat clear. It does better with organdy but as you can see on my card, it can be done with grograin as well.
One day I might take the time to write a tutorial with pictures but don't have time today.
Thanks for the info! I was figuring it out in my head and I was thinking of the way you described but I was also thinking it would be a tight fit. Your bow looks so neat and nice! I hope I can make it look half that good.

Mine is a long-reach punch and I just turn the paper whatever direction I need. On this card they are angled toward the corner, not north/south or east/west.

Thanks Lynn for the tutorial....I kind of got it...but will need to practice it to get it right. I am very ribbon challenged, so I tend not to use it alot! =) (As you can tell if you've seen my gallery)

Oh! I made one and it turned out just great. It was a little tricky because the ribbon was different on one side than the other, so getting it just right took a lot of tweaking. In the end, it was great, though. Thanks for the idea.
I did one this weekend with cheap 1/4 satin ribbon from Mike's and it turned out just fine - I didn't even use the double slot punch. I had a 1/4" round punch handy and used that!

So exactly how much ribbon are you leaving on the back to keep it from falling out? 1/2 inch or so? Then just taping it down or does the pressure itself keep it in place?

Basically all of the ribbon ends up on the front of the card. The only part on the back is the length that crosses over from one slot to the other.
I think that Ann and Benjamin and I did your bow a bit differently than what you said. I also ended up with just loops on the back. If I pull on the front the whole thing will come out of the slots.

Yes, you need to cross over to the other slot with your loop.
