wondering if set pictures....
I was wondering if it would be possible to have a picture of the complete stamp set at the beginning of each gallery section ? I know that S Up doesn't allow pictures of their sets on ebay...well, they aren't supposed to be pictured...
When I look at the gallery of a set I am not 100% familiar with I am never sure that the whole set is used in the gallery. Yes, I know I could go get my catty but sometimes I am not at home or only have a few minutes to gallery browse.
It would help me out but if it is not 'legal' then of course I don't want it to be done !
This is such an awesome site ! So glad my friend referred me here. I tell absolutely everyone I meet who is a stamper/scrapper about SCS !

Unless something has changed, I don't think those are allowed. We were all trying to figure out a way to do this a while back, and people started stamping cards that used every image in the set.
BTW, I'm pretty sure digital photos of a set of stamps in the box are allowed on eBay. From what I heard, the policy was changed at the request of demonstrators who were at a disadvantage (at first demos could not include photos) when they listed their retired stamp sets for sale and could not show people what they were bidding on.

thanks !
Leslie..those are awesome ! That is exactly what I 'need' ! What a difference to see the images all stamped and in color too ! Not just black, gray and white. Superb ! Kellestamps did an awesome job on those index cards. Can gallery submissions be made a sticky ? Could having the gals at SCS do index cards as a "challenge" work ?
Thanks again !
Oh...I didn't know S Up changed their ebay policy as I am not a demo. Lots of current sets are pictured still, too. I rarely will buy sight unseen...except here at SCS...so I love having the sets pictured just didn't realize that now it was okay to do that.

Wow! I love those cards....
It is possible to bring up just that one card by doing a gallery search for ALL NATURAL INDEX, keeping your search to "titles only" and "contains all words." But it would be really cool if the SCS wizards could make those INDEX cards a "stickie" like they can with threads in the forums.
??? Possible? or impossible?

If they can't make them a "sticky", maybe they can at least make a gallery just FOR those indexes? Each one's title could just be the name of the set, so people could arrange them alphabetically. Or maybe they could use the set name as the keywords?
Kellestamps had the idea way back then to make it a challenge, but wondered how much participation we would get & who would take on such a large project. I wonder if several of us could host them, maybe breaking them up alphabetically so each of us only has a few to worry about keeping track of (marking a set as "done", asking for volunteers for sets that don't have someone to do it, etc.). To boost particiption, we could do it sort of as a contest. People could sign up for "teams" that are assigned certain letters of the alphabet & their goal is to find as many SU! sets that begin with those letters as possible & index them! Oh the possibilities!!

I don't know if it is possible - but I know that it would be appreciated by many of us who are not familiar with the sets.

I love the idea of an index of card fronts. I often go to ebay and do a search to see what stamps are in a particular set....

okay, I think we could do this.
here's what we'll do, and let me know if you have a better idea.
1. we've created a special gallery for index cards
Index Cards
2. when uploading, you'll need to be sure and indicate what set was used
3. once cards are uploaded to the index gallery, mods will move them to the appropriate set gallery, time permitting
4. gallery moderators will "stick" the cards to the front of each stamp set gallery
5. we're also looking into the possibility of giving each gallery a thumbnail, and using these index cards for the thumbnail (we'd turn on a feature of the gallery that in effect lets each individual gallery have an "avatar")
if you *really* want to do this, you'll probably need to have a team of people organized to do it. there are *lots* of sets in the gallery, in case you haven't noticed :^)
if you've got better ideas for accomplishing this, work them out and then let us know with a PM to me or Jenn (jbalcer).

okay, I've done the first one:
Birthday Banter by Cara Denise at Splitcoaststampers
it's sticky at the top of the gallery, and if we can figure out how to show thumbnails for a gallery it'll show up there too.
another cool thing you could do: pick a unique keyword for these index cards and add it each time you upload a card. then by clicking the keyword people could see *all* the index cards that are currently available throughout the gallery.

What is a sticky? I looked at the gallery and it looked like a regular upload to me. Sorry if this is a dumb question.

it just means that item will always be shown first at the top of the gallery, no matter what gets uploaded after it.

im up for the challenge.. and i can help out in any way that i can..
what you should do is get together a list of people who are WILLING to help out.. and have them compile a list of the sets they have.. and you can assign the tasks to certain people WITH certain sets.
then, what doesnt get stamped.. put out an ISO on someone who is willing to complete that set.
if no one answers your ISO for small gallery's, or unpopular sets.. maybe pm a few people who have actually uploaded to that gallery and see if they would be willing!!
that would be a start!!
i think this sounds like a great idea!

Hi Tasha, I'm waiting on kellestamps to post for herself that she wants to (my understanding from our pm's). Since it was originally her idea (or at least she was the one that originally tried to get it going), I feel like she deserves the honor. Everyone in her house was sick recently, so maybe she'll have a chance to post here soon (she knows where to find us!!). :-)
If she decides to decline, since you have waaaaaay more senority here than I do, I think you should head it up & let some of us other volunteers help ya. :-) There was at least one more volunteer in the other thread: Forums at Splitcoaststampers
Leslie
p.s.--where do you live? I'm in Lake Jackson

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
I'm posting to this forum as well as the General Stamping one because I want everyone involved to know how much I appreciate the index cards. I have wanted this feature for quite a while but didn't know if it was possible. I think it is something that was needed and will be so handy to have. So again to all involved in giving us another great feature to this wonderful site...
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

INDEX CARDS R 4 ?
There's been a lot index cards placed on the gallery lately. Those show all the stamped images in a set. Why are these being made?
