The SU ink pads will work. the dye in the distressed ink pads seems a bit more reactive than the SU dye so you can get some fun effects - but in general they act very similarly. have fun!

Each wheel has a seam. I just find the seam, gently start to pull up and it comes off super easy. There is remnants of a rubber cement like glue that just rolls up on itself and you are good to go.
