I too am looking for an answer to this question, as the Stabilo pencils are hard to find, and the General pencils are easier to find in stores. So far I've only been able to find the Stabilo pencils...

Have you tried using chalks with a sponge dauber or other type of sponge applicator? The finished product is slightly different than brayering using a brayer.
