How do you manage to get such beautiful, clear pictures of your pages uploaded? I don't even want to upload mine as they look so grainy and blurry. My camera usually takes such beautiful, clear pictures (which are the ones that I have scrapped) but when I upload them, they look absolutely horrid.
I don't have a scanner so I have to take a picture of them. Any suggestions?

For me I can't get too close to my pages b/c the flash glares on the pics so, I put my pages on my living room floor with the overhead light on too. Then, I stand above them at a slight angle so my shadow is not on the page (with my flash on auto). They usually turn out pretty good. I hope this helps.

I usually try to take mine outside in indirect sunlight. I have a white sheet I use as a background and I stand directly over my LO with my grid on in my camera display. I then try to line up two or three sides of my LO with the grid lines to make sure it's straight. And if you take close ups of details on your LO make sure that you change your camera setting to macro. (if your camera does that! lol)

I can't have my camera too close to the page or it will be blurry, so I stand away from it and zoom in. I prefer outdoors, but sometimes I'm lazy and just go by my sliding glass door and use that light (and sometimes my camera will flash and other times it doesn't). I try to make it as straight as possible, but I can adjust it in PSE. The point is that I crop the picture down to just the page. That is more of a personal preference.

I stand away from my pages (that are lying on my floor) and then I crop when I upload. It must be the lighting. It's hard for me to take them outside as I live in Alberta and we are under 3 feet of snow. I'll just keep trying.
I have lots of pages that I have taken pictures of, but I just don't want to put them on here because they look so terrible in comparison to the others that I see. And it is really hard to comment on someone's pages when they look terrible. :(

first off Deb, I looked at your pages and don't see any issues that we haven't all encountered...
I do know that lighting is the biggest issue for me. It causes a grainy effect and living in Wisconsin we only have warm days in say... AUGUST. I found a "food" setting on my camera that I use as well, but if I take a picture at night I get nothing but grainy/dark no matter what the setting, so I usually have to wait until daytime no matter what.
I know that folks here can see through that and see the beauty of the work, so please don't feel you need perfection! I love SCS because it feels like I'm scrapping with sisters that love my work and will encourage me no matter what vs. some of the competitive blogs that I see. I think that's why more gets done here!
so do "JUST KEEP TRYING"!

hth.
I pretty much do the same as Gina, except I use a white foam core board to lay my pages on instead of a sheet. I try to stay away from using the flash to avoid glare. I crop it square using my photo-editing program after I upload it from my camera.
Of course, when it's a digi-page, it's in my computer already, so there are no photos to take!!

Here is my page for the second VSBN challenge of the day. I love the cracked glass technique. Even though you can't really tell in the photo... the small hearts on the left side are cracked glass charms that I made and added to the page. Sorry... no road sign, just didn't fit in the plan!
The photos will go in the big red hearts when I get them from the printers next week. They are from our "Death by Chocolate" couples party, we went to.
I finished my cover of a mini book I'm going to do this year. This will be a very different mini book for me because it will have no pictures in it *gasp.* Shocking, I know. I decided to join in on a Scripture Challenge hosted by Patter, who used to be a DT member for Unity, on her blog: http://triplethescraps.blogspot.com/
The awesome thing is that this not only completes my goal for the month, but puts me one over!!! And it is only the 15th! This is a new experience for me. But I'm also on a creative spurt, give me a day or two and I won't create for a week or more.

Take your picture next to a window on the bright side of the house using the sun reflecting off the snow...it should have the same effect as Gina using a white sheet...should add light.

AWESOME! Way to hit your goal! I think that's what is FUN about having goals! It helps you get started and then when you feel no mojo you can give it a couple days and still know you've got pages and crafty items done!

Good Morning Everyone....
I ended up crashing last night around 8:30. I didn't make it all the way through VSBN. I ate dinner, sat down to talk to my DH about money and House stuff and the next thing I know it was 12:30, and my DH was saying "Honey, let's put you to bed..." The next time I woke up it was 7:30 this morning....
I scraplifted StampinShirley's digi page HERE but I did do it the regular way...does that count for the handmade part? LOL! Just kidding. I wasn't sure what to add as a handmade embellishment and since her page didn't have anything extra, neither does mine!

yiiiiiiikes i don't have any pictures for vsbn... didn't finish organizing and ordering like i had hoped! (but i did get 600 of them organized... about 1/5 of what i need to do!)
i'll go through the threads and take notes on topics and order pictures from there, hopefully i can work on them and make it by the deadline!

You can always make the layouts (if you do the paper ones) and just add the pictures when you get them!
I decided to do some more digital pages because I got an offer for a free book from shutterfly. So I've got LOTS to do before the end of the month! Also, I played along with the Scrap Comments Game.
And then while I was at it I made another one: Mom & RJ

I kind of just left VSBN in a hurry this afternoon... but now I am back! It turned out to be a sad but good day. Our friends here in Myrtle Beach called this afternoon and said that their new colt was trying to be born and they needed help, they were waiting on the vet and knew that I have had some experience with this kind of thing from growing up on a farm with lots of horses. I got over there and the colt was coming basically breach. The vet got there and we worked and worked. The colt was born fine but we lost the mother. There was nothing any of us could do....
