Mixed media can be
easy, approachable and FUN! Especially right here in the Mix-Ability Forum where our challenges are simple and feasible with the supplies you have on hand.
It's getting spookier in the galleries and it's just the right time to try creating a ghostly effect.
The challenge is to create hollow shape, or as the challenge title suggests ghostly outlines, by one of the techniques listed below. Make it fuzzy, blurred or barely noticeable, but never a clean edge for this challenge. There are really no one or two ways to do this challenge just remember this is a mixed media challenge so use two or more mediums (paint, paste, pencil, collage, etc.) in your design.
The Mix-Ability Hostess team has created some samples to inspire you and here are some techniques from the Tutorials section to help you decide which way you'll create your ghostly outlines.
Retiform Technique (try other shapes to fit your card theme)
Basic Masking (off set it to create a halo look)
Mulberry Batik
Acrylic Batik
MIX68: Reverse Masking
MIX89: Pin Ups (use the cut-out twice shifting it slightly to create a blurred effect)
Remember when uploading your project to add "MIX91" to the keyword section and use a comma to separate each keyword.
If you are new to the challenges, please feel free to do this one or ANY of the challenges at any time. There is no time limit. They are not races to see who can do one first, nor are they contests of any sort. All the challenges are simply to provide inspiration and to get us stamping!
