Happy Mix-Ability day! Are you ready?
Some time ago, Lydia shared pictures from an art show that she visited in Austin. One booth had gorgeous note cards that I adored so much that I saved her photos to my laptop so I could keep peeking at them like a giddy school girl - here's one:
Gina Su is the artist, and you can find more of her work HERE. I thought it would be fun for us to be inspired by her work in our stamping.
Specifically, I'd like you to:
--Stamp an image, but don't ink it up all the way, leaving a gap in the outline.
--Fill in the gap with your own shapes, flowers, or doodles.
Remember, for your project to truly qualify as mixed media, you need to use at least 2 different types of art media. You can click HERE for a list of supplies you could choose from. If you want to start these challenges in the pages of an art journal instead of a card, or on scrapbook pages, or on 3D items - please know - ANYTHING is welcome! We want you to learn and enjoy!
Please remember to put in the correct keyword (MIX116) when uploading your image. Copying and pasting the challenge keyword is recommended to avoid typos. Then come back to this thread and paste a link to the card in your gallery so we can all ooh and ahhh! Go forth and create!
Oh man - just seeing these examples makes me want to play! I have a ton to get done today but maybe I can sneak in some playtime... Great work from the design team.
MIX116 Spring Sunshine
The first time I stamped the bird, I totally forgot to remove some of the ink. Arghhh.
But, I think I'll use it make something quite similar to this using the "green bough" sentiment that comes with the Scribbly Birds and drop it down to the neighbour I was visiting this morning. Not only is she suffering horrible side effects from the anti-cancer medication she is on, but she was knocked over and broke her leg while skiing.
This was great fun to make - thanks, Dina.
Awesome challenge. Not sure when I'll be able to play. I'm working in a booth at the scrapbook expo today & tomorrow. When I get home, I'm sure I'll want to do nothing but crash.

I looked at the submissions and the examples and can't wait to try this new technique. I missed the last couple of challenges but I'm ready to do this one. I can see why you were giddy when you saw those cards, LOVE this idea!
Wow, this was a fun challenge! I had to search to try to find an image that would work- I added additional leaves and berries to this ornament along with a distressed background :-)
