Welcome to the Mix-Ability Challenge! We aim to make mixed media approachable and fun, so let's cover some basics if you're new here! Curious about mixed media? Check out a couple of posts if you're curious, "What is the Mix-Abiity Challenge?" and "Does mixed media have to be messy?"
Our challenge is to try or be inspired by the printmaking technique of Chine Collé used in drypoint etching. You might be saying "Chine Collé, what?", but that is why we're here. It's a form of laminating thin paper to another paper of more stability in one pass of printmaking. Our challenge is to try it with whatever supplies you have on hand and be inspired by the process!
Take a look at two approaches from our host team, MariLynn and me!

When you have finished your project, upload it to your Member Gallery with the keyword "MIX532". I can't wait to see how you were inspired by Chine Collé!
Thank you to MariLynn for creating a sample and video, she is the best!
A+ for you both! This is s fun technique(s). I can't wait to figure out how I will do it!

Janelle- cool challenge, thank you! I had to improvise a bit with water colored fast food napkin pieces applied to my stamped image stash as I have limited supplies due to moving. I enjoyed doing this, and like the effect!
Here's Simply Wonderful

Cool looking technique. I hope to try something tomorrow. I can't see videos in the forum since about three or four updates ago, so I had to do a bit of looking things up ( then did find Janelle's through the blog link in her upload). Then I got busy and my free time for today is gone. I did come across a faux version for the gelli plate, which is what I may try. Not 100% sure about trying to run a stamp through the big shot, as I couldn't quite follow what sandwich to use. I feel that bare naked rubber ought to work in my old Wizard, because that's probably close to the thickness of the silicone mat. But - my Wizard only works in one direction so if I had problems, I wouldn't be able to go into reverse. Not sure I want to risk that either.

I started with the bottom plate and the rubber stamp and checked my clearance then went from there. However, please do this challenge at what inspired you the most. I think it’s brillant what so many are already coming up with for the thin flimsy paper. Once I was committed to my rabbit hole using my Cuttlebug I thought it would be easy to use Contour ink for the first image on a stamp positioning tool and then shape my tissue paper based on that.
What I’m trying to say is that it’s fine to get to the finished look in so many creative ways, that’s what I love about this community of crafters!!!!!

Will try to do something closer to the technique another time. It's not obvious, but I did use torn scraps of printed Stamperia rice paper on this. MIX532 - Loosely by Cook22 at Splitcoaststampers
