I don't know if this has been addressed here, as I can only find posts on storing the actual dies.
When I cut out a die, usually cut out extras and hence the problem of how to store these delicate paper pieces. At the present they are in zip lock bags but kind of messy or small recycled boxes. I would like a neater look .
I have a friend who stored hers in pockets in a three ring binder. Does anyone else have a suggestion. all would be welcomed. Thanks
I have an baby room sized dresser in my space that the top drawer is not very deep and I have these wooden trays that are like for organizing drawers inside in that drawer and then I have previously stamped and diecut sentiments in tiny clear bags and or diecuts in clear bags in this drawer so when I open the drawer I see them all at once.
I don't have any newer photos but, if you scroll down in this post then you will see inside that drawer to get what I mean. hth,
I'm still trying to find a solution myself. I am always cutting extras. They are all stored in the plastic sleeves you can get for folders. Or if small I have put in zip lock bags. Then everything is keep together in a box specifically for die cuts. So I have started a system but it has its flaws- you have to lift everything out when searching for one particular item. And you can bet it will always be the last one at the bottom of the box.
I use the clam shells as well. My craft room supplies are organized by manufacturer/brand so I just label the clamshells the same way. Since space is not an issue for me, I store about 24 of the clamshells a medium sized DVD shelf unit, on their ends like books. Quick and easy to identify, grab and put back.
I have mine sorted by shape and color. They are stored in the paper cd envelopes that come with the plastic window. I store all of the envelopes in a cd fliptop box and have them organized into categories within the box (such as circles, hearts, labels, flowers etc.) It isn't perfect and you would be limited as to the size you could store in the envelopes, but it works pretty well for me to have them all in one place.
I bought some ScrapRack pocket pages and put them in a ring binder. I like them because they have a flap and that keeps the cuts from falling out. The really small cuts I put in muffin tins in a drawer and stack them and then kind of slide them back and forth.
Buried Treasure, I make extra cuts (some by accident, OK most by accident) and use them when I want to make a quick card.
I went to Staples (Canada) today to see what they had and if anything jumped out at me.
First of all they still Carry Martha Steward here, but passed on that one.
I also looked for some Avery Elle, but they only had a few of the page protectors I have read about here, which I thought might work for the paper as well as the dies.I also looked at DVD paper sleeves but wondered if they would stand up as well as a poly page protector. Will try to look for poly ones that have a flap on top to keep things intact.
As far as storing them with the dies, I think they might get distorted or ripped pulling the dies in and out and trying not to snag the paper cut outs.
I am leaning toward a binder with page protectors for my paper die cuts and perhaps also putting the dies in the same binder. Decisions Decisions. Any other ideas welcomed.
