Default Storage for 12x12 paper??

I'm looking for a great way to store my 12x12 paper. Currently I have a filing cabinet (of sorts) system for my 8 1/2 x 11 paper - they're in separate hanging files. Any suggestions would be wonderful!!!!

Thanks

I bought 12X 12 acrylic paper storage here at scrapbook.com

They are clear, easy to stack and great to use!

Click here to view them in use on my blog.

I hope this helps!

Mine is due for a re-do. I have a very large three tiered computer desk I want to nix. Probally go with another table like I use for my stamp table.

Good luck!

Default my CHEAP paper storage!

These are the buildable cubes you can buy at target or walmart. Instead omaking 4 cubes like your supposed to I put together one cute and use the extra panels as shelves ( tied on with tiny zip ties) then your 12 X12 fits perfectly. And since its got grids it collects less dust!

Lena - that's a great idea, especially the less dust part.

FYI The build-able cubes are available at Target and they seem to go on sale about once a month--I think they run about $20 regularly and go on sale for between $12 and $15
One package makes several cubes.
The cubes are great because you can also create a large unit of organization for other things as well.
I've heard that some people who are concerned about their paper getting 'grid' impressions--put a thin piece of 12 x 12 cardboard into a page protector and keep that next to the shelf--stack the paper on top
I like to store my paper in a sort of rainbow order. Some colors I may not use or keep much of a stash ---my oranges and yellows are combined.

Another option is using the Elfa system (Container Store) and creating hanging files using the cropper hopper or other a/f file folders

Depending upon how extensive your stash of patterned paper--
you may want to file it/store it based on a theme basis and try to keep coordinates together. I've heard of some who even go so far as to sub divide it by brand/company within the themes.

I have the same thing-- I read the idea somewhere online, and it was a nice, cheap option. I paid $16 or so for mine.

Also, I'm pretty sure I saw them in the Target sale ad this week.

Red face 12 X 12 paper storage

Target sells a small storage unit that has SIX removable 12 1/2 X 12 1/2 inch clear plastic boxes with lids that slide in and out-- it has casters too. I also buy the THREE drawer 12 1/2 X 12 1/2 inch plastic system where ever I can get the best price and these stack on top of the other perfectly.

I like the idea of the hinged lids on these boxes. It keeps my paper free from dust etc.. I arrange the papers by color families... reds, pinks, purples, yellow and orange, etc. When I want to go to a Crop.. I just go through the color families I want and make my selection. I can then use one of the hinged containers to bring my paper with me .. no muss-- no fuss.

I stack the paper system next to my book shelves. I also buy those cardboard picture storage boxes and use them for small crafting items [ie. small tools, embossing powder and glitter bottles, embossing folders, etc]. These I stack on my book shelf -- On my other book shelf I have my SU stamp sets stacked by catagory [ holiday themes, floral, words, etc] - and I keep my stamps pads in a portable 'to go ' tote. I can grab the colors family I want to take to a crop or use for my card making at home. --

Still.. I am worry that the overflow of other crafting supplies on shelves in the spare closet will result in CRAFT SUPPLY AVALANCHE SYNDROME someday when I open the door.. WHAT OTHER METHODS DO YOU ALL USE TO TAME THE CRAFT SUPPLY MONSTERS THAT ARE HIDING OUT IN YOUR HOMES?

I would love to hear more ideas...

I too live in a very dusty area so I bought these cropper hopper storage containers shown at the bottom of the attached picture. They come with one big container and three or four smaller containers that fit iside the

large one.

This is just the large one. Both have the slanted corner so I turn the smaller with the slanted section inside the larger to protect the corners of my paper. Then I used my crop-a-dile to puch a hole on the outside and used ribbon to mark my colors. Then I slide the containers into the storage cube for added protection from dust, sun and the dreaded dog hair!! I hope I have explained this clearly. If you would like better pictures I can attach more later today when I get home.
I just moved and my space is still a work in progress so forgive the messy look.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do, just make sure to show us the pictures!!!

I have these as well and I couldn't be happier with them. I bought each of them one at a time at Hobby Lobby using a 40% off coupon, but I think that at regular price they are still a good deal. They come with a large holder and four smaller holders that fit inside the large one and also dividers. When I store them I turn the open side in so that my paper stays clean of dust and whatnot. I printed out labels for the outside of the holders so I know which divider is holding what. I keep my paper sorted by color families and then I use one for Simply Scrappin Kits and another for patterned paper. Currently, I have 7 of them full but I'm going to be separating my patterned paper soon so I'll have to purchase another one. Oh Darn!;)

I have a cropper hopper cart on wheels. Lid lifts to expose 12x12 file area. Also has two baskets on the side and a shelf underneath. I wheel it under my desk on the left, have a normal file cabinet (2 drawer) under my desk on the right....so all my paper is right there!

I have a LOT of paper and cardstock - I seem to collect far more than I use :o and a friend gave up scrappin' and gave me tons. I live in a rural area and have lots of dust as well, so open shelving systems don't work for me. I really like the IRIS semi-clear boxes. They are about 13" square by 3" or so tall. They are frequently on sale, otherwise they are expensive - about 14$, but I wait til sales or use a 40 or 50% coupon for these as I have (and need) a lot!

I use either 12x12 file folders or sometimes page protectors (Dollar Tree 12/$1) or "craft envelopes" (clear plastic like a portfolio) to put similar items or coordinating items. Because they are always full, they can be put on their side without fear of "droop" (or you can stack them on a shelf). Four of them fit in one of those folding milk crate things (mine are carts which means I can move four at a time).

I generally separate by theme/color. My mom likes flowers so I have a whole box dedicated to that. Other "themes" are Geometrics (stripes, dots, etc), Celebrations, Large patterns, Small patterns (like on a tie), Tone on Tone and one that Never sits any way but flat, with my really special papers. I also have one for Multi (no predominant color) and another for large scraps (and usually one or two  to hold the stuff that needs sorting and putting away. ) Inside, I try to sort them by colors also, so all the pink flowers are together - which makes it so much easier to go to the paper you want!

I gave in and got a few more. I had started with one extra so that I could have a current project box. I put all the papers, embellishments, etc in there and can close it up in between creative sessions. Now I have four of them (a birthday one, a baby one, a Halloween one, etc) for projects I am currently working on and I need more!

My solid cardstock is stored in two three drawer tabletop drawers - one for 8.5 x 11 and another for 12x12... but I may need another soon! I keep those in order by rainbow order. Now I just need a room to keep them in!!

Most of my work is CardMaking right now, but it also worked great when I was Scrapbooking. I just gathered the things I was going to use on a series of pages, including brads and embellishments and even stamps and pads) and put them in an empty one (hard to find at my place!!) and took the whole thing to the work table.

If you go to crops, you may want to get the similar item by Art Bin as it has a handle. But this makes it so easy to go to a crop, just bring the papers etc you want to use and your tools. I tended to gather materials for several layouts at a time that used the same basic colors. When I sat down to crop, I was able to work, as I have a small place too work in and when I work, I don't want to have to bring out ALL my papers etc or there is no place for me!!
