They said on the news this morning that "rustic" weddings were the most popular again, so you should be able to cash in on this with your mason jars. Everything old comes back. Lol
We did the whole vintage/ Pinterest wedding in the fall. I have never worked in all my life at crafting. There were things we did i never would believed I could do before SCS.

I think it's so true that a little taste of success gives you confidence to build on that! The jars are, indeed, beautiful! You should sell them on Etsy or something...

I save scraps but after a point I pitch! I have all my SU scraps in separate gallon ziplock bags in in canvas box from Target. Yesterday I went through some piles and after awhile I tossed some. How many do I need? Yeah, not that many!
I also pitched some old colors that were scraps.

I am stalled out for the moment with organizing. my mom is 87 and not doing well, in fact failing miserably. I am constantly locking horns with my older sister who insists mom be allowed to choose to do whatever. I say when she "chooses" to get her meds screwed up and take laxative twice a day to the point she is risking coma because her electrolytes are messed up, is not a choice. my older sister just refuses to acknowledge her confusion. so my other sister flew up on Tuesday to help me with this. pretty sure I am not cut out for this....

I had to plurge my scraps just the other day, instead of throwing them away, I spent some time to cut diecuts ahead. Easy peasy to use up lots of green stamps for leaves, black on bike dies etc. I just used a small box to house them. If I find I don't use them fast enough, I share them with friends who scrapbook and make cards. Makes them smile to use a diecut they don't have and I love sharing. Great gifts for those that hostess swaps too.
Lori, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I've been there, done that, and it's very difficult to think about much else - nor should you. Family is your first concern and what you are doing is waaaay more important than moving bits of crafty stuff around. I hope that things can resolve peacefully, and please remember to take care of yourself, too... Love and light to you!
I agree. Mom/you come first. Things won't grow legs and run away-they will wait for you.
(sometimes unfortunately lol)
Just remember-we cant control everything we may want to. That is NOT a defect in you or some kind of failure. It is just the way it is.
The quickest way to know about mom is have her eval'ed by a doc. They have tons of tests now for this kind of thing. It may take more to determine why-like if her meds are causing it or there is something in the brain. But that she is not functioning properly the doc can say and then your sis will hopefully accept it.
Tapping on microphone. Hello, I have a paper addiction. I am trying to get paper organized. I make cards for various organizations and pen pals. I had piles of scraps on craft desk and floor. I have very little storage, so I am placing scraps in large plastic bags by the colors of the rainbow. I like to save tiny pieces and I find I need them. I keep 2 small containers on my craft desk for the tiny pieces. I can see what colors I have and use these scraps. I'm trying not to cut a sheet of paper as I will wind up with more scraps. I'm digging thru the bags to find what color I need. I have thrown out lot's of paper that was torn, wrinkled ect as it sat on floor. :( I now spend 1 hour twice a week wrangling those scraps. I am guilty of placing cut 12x12 sheets back in the cropper hopper.
I made 12cards this week using onky the scraps on my desk. I refused to put the scraps away, what I didnt use I threw away. Feeling pretty proud of myself, although I didn't tackle the 2 drawers of scraps I still have. Sigh...
It sounds to me like a great idea to challenge yourself regularly to make cards with only scraps...you can use the sketches in a lot of places.
I was actually going to post this idea somewhere else but it could apply here too.
One way to reduce scraps (and save money) is to make your own DP. I mean why are we buying striped paper when all you have to do is take a ruler and some markers and run lines? Sure there are some patterns we cant make but we can make some and we might be less inclined to save every bit of the scrap that way? Tons of background stamps out there. for people who like to color, it's a choice...
i should make that a goal for the year; especially since I have a board on pinterest especially for paper scrap card ideas.

when I get an idea for a card or the need to make one, it rarely involves scraps. the sunflower card I just made I did use scrap pieces because I just sorted my paper and put them in drawers by color so I could see the scraps available to me. heck my goal is just to have a half a dozen cards made up at any one time, so I am not always running to my craft room and hour before I need to be some where!

I try not to save anything under matting size. Note the word TRY. I do save all bits of glitter and metalic pieces...in a square 12x12 tub with a lid, I also save my CoreDinations paper in a tub too as it cuts well in my Cricut. The rest I put in 12x12 page protector sorted by color and put in a rolling cart file holder. The patterned paper I put in a plastic tub and kind of "dig" for it when I need an odd piece. When I make an extra cut I put it in a 12 x 12 page protector that has been divided into sections and has a flap over each section and in to a notebook. I forgot the name of it but it seems to be working. Cross your fingers.
I purged my craft supplies last year couldnt believe some of the stuff i had ,i filled 2 boxes of bits & pieces of card stock & papers old stamp pads & stamps & gave them to my 4grandnieces they had a ball crafting things. It felt so liberating & no guilt because i wasnt using my stuff So now i just keep a box handy i add to it every so often then send them more crafting supplies. Now i am a SU demo i am converting to only SU papers & card stock& products. Cheers
Today is the first day of SPRING and I'm busy inside cleaning out my card room. It must be the time of year but if I don't make an effort the paper will consume me! I agree a clean space is a must for creativity. I now have a plastic bin for all white and cream scraps and a page protector on top of each colour with matching scraps. I use SU paper with a mail slot system. Patterned paper is a whole other can of worms. Visual people constantly want something new and as a result we have too much. At first I bought stacks now I buy only single sheets - slows it down a bit. Card making for ten years the scrap pile grows. Pass it on to a teacher who could really use the materials and lighten your load!
I keep a filing system going for scraps. When one gets too full, I cut diecuts until the pile is much smaller. I then pass along the diecuts to other card makers. They are happy, I am happy because I didn't waste anything. Even some of those icky colored ones get used by thumping them with different markers to get a mottled look or versamark and embossed with powders. If that doesn't get rid of enough scraps, I make 3x3 cards to hang from gift bags. Fun and fast.
Gee I like that idea for making gift cards out of scraps! Thanks!
The other day my stamping pal was over...and all we did was pull from my scrap box to do die cuts of flowers and stuff. Sometimes that is a good challenge and way to get rid of them.
You all are way more organized than I am with the scraps. I have one plastic box period. If that gets too full I work from it before starting new.

The only time my scraps are manageable is when they are in one "container" within reach of (preferably on) my workspace. I can see value in organizing larger scraps (1/4" sheet or larger) and specialty papers with their full size counterparts.
The most important thing is to find a method that works for you and your creative/organizational processes.
I'm glad I ran into this thread becauase I have lots of organizing to do (although in my case it's more clothes, and other hobby supplies as I'm still pretty new to scrapbooking). I did go through a big closet/drawer clothing purge this past weekend. I woke up determined to get rid of things and clean up the house. I was so into it that even the fiance joined in and also got rid of loads of clothing.
I definitely need to keep going and get the rest of my things in better order so I don't constantly have to think of how disorganized it is. So, reading through all these posts is definitely a big motivational boost.

I just wanted to reply and send you a big hug, family dynamics when dealing with an ill or elderly relative is so stressful and I wanted you to know I am thinking of you. People say and do things at these times that challenges our sanity (or at least it did mine when I was dealing with one sibling and both my parents) and sometimes you have to take a deep breath and ask from help...which hopefully your other sister will provide.
If I can punch it...it stays. Some of the new bitty punches means I keep kore than I used to, but life will continue. I dont throw the rest away...I RECYCLE the scraps. Let is have a second life, so to speak.

I still use the same set up from years ago. Take a cheap cube 12 x 12 use clear plastic page protectors and you have an organizer you can store on a shelf. Plus it keeps the dust off and you can actually sort by colors.
