I got a BigShot for Christmas, and already am collecting folders and dies for it. How do you store them? Do you keep the CB embossing folders in their original packaging or do you note somehow what design it is on the folder? What about the Texturz plates? Dies?

My CB folders I keep in somthing like this: CD Box
I didn't get it there, I'm sure I got it at Target/Walmart/Staples etc. But I'm at work right now and that's the closest pic I can find.
I take them out of the original packaging and label the top left corner with my label-maker. That way I can flip through them without pulling them out to look at each one.
For right now the border sets and 4 pc mini folders I clip each set together with a large binder clip and label the clip. I only have a few of each of these and they are tossed in front of the A2 and 5x7 folders in the box. I may change this if I come up with a brainstorm. (Or steal a fabulous idea from someone else. LOL)
I store my CB folders in a decorative cigar box on the table I also use for die cutting. Works out very well. I have them organized by type. ie., Christmas, Fall/halloween, floral, etc., They stand up nicely in the box and I can flip through them like you'd flip through a rolodex file!
Hope this helps!

I used to write on mine with a Sharpie but I found that the ink ended up on the inside of my cards. Bit by bit it wore off on my cards. :( I now label them with the labeler.
And I posted the unit I talked about. I don't have much on it now but it will hold a TON (Quickutz, Sizzix, Cuttlebug, Spellbinders, 2 machines, etc.)! I have a full detailed post here with lots of pictures for you to see. Here is just one picture:
Enjoy!

the big CB folders I find easy but the borders are so narrow they end up all over the place? I would welcome ideas with pictures I am such a visual person!

I cut a piece of cardstock the size of a regular folder and run a couple strips of double stick tape across it. I stick each set of narrow border folders to the cardstock and it stands in my storage box just like the other folders.
I just posted about this very storage solution on my blog here and on the cuttlebug challenge blog here
I use a shoe storage cubby and it perfectly houses your big shot dies, cuttlebug folders, sixxiz folders, alpha dies etc.texture plates too
I hope this is what you are looking for, it really rounds up the mess and makes it easy to find and use.

To: Frou Frou! Great and clever sorage solutions! Where did you get your blue binders?? I'm working on storage soluions for my dies and embossing folders! The blue binder is colorfull and not boring!! Also love the napkin holder idea for your plates!!
I store my folders in one of the lunchbox tins from Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Ihave 2...1 for the CB folders and the other for my SU folders. They fit nicely inside and it has a handle for carrying, if needed.
As for how to tag them, I use a Dynamo labeler and type out the name of the folder, print it out, peel off the backing and stick it on the top of the folder.
I found a great tutorial by Gina K for making a fancy box out of a square-shaped kleenex box. I put my CB folders in that (I only have about 10 at this point), put dividers between them (used the tab punch by SU), and it's great!
I have mine tossed in a drawer (zzzzz....) but my friend has hers in small photo album, just slid in the page protectors... she just pulls the book (okay, bookS) out and flips right through. Frou Frou I love your space, and especially like the napkin holder idea!

I store mine in a folder that I made from a .cut file with my cricut. The embossing folders and dies are both store in my Jetmax 4-drawer cubes.
Thanks for showing all that on your blog! I did a lot of searching this past weekend because I wanted some Jetmax cubes but couldn't decide which ones. I came across a post of yours and went to your videos and not only found what I could do with which drawers, but found ways to store and organize other things of mine too! So thanks!
I only have a few sets of border folders, so I throw mine in a sandwich sized zip lock and just sort through if I need one. Note that I have samples of all my folders (pens, stamps, dies, punches, etc) in a binder as an easy reference for what I have. If I didn't, the baggie might not be so practical. If my collection grows too large for the baggie, I'll probably use one of those white plastic Rubbermaid snap-together drawer organizers and keep snapping another one on as needed.

Your room is awesome and your ideas are terrific. Love the napkin holder idea!!!
For the Texture plates Dh drilled a small hole for me in the corner of all of them (like in the header area, not the useful portion) and they hang on my pegboard.

My folders recently moved to new housing....from a target wire mesh desk organizer thingy to the really useful box sold at Staples. I used my labeler and placed the name of the folder on it, then made a divider with added tab for name again and now they are in alphabetical order in two boxes---those that are combo folder/die are in a section after the folder only ones and those that are the SU size or the new larger Provo craft size are in another section. The small folders and dies are in their own section in baseball card sheets cut down and the four quikcutz dies i own are there also. the larger dies from SU and Sizzix are at the back of all that and then come the texture plates. Right now the two boxes are holding them all but that could change in a heartbeat if I go shopping.LOL However,,,this system is easy to make additions to without losing the original plan.

I store all my embossing folders (I don't have any of the borders) and my Sizzix Bigz dies in these boxes from Ikea. I label them and stack 'em up since they are all the same size.

Your craft room is AMAZING! Wow! Thanks for the storage tip!
Right now I store my cuttlebug folders in their original packaging in an empty cascade dishwashing action pac container. I am thinking about covering the clear container with some decorative paper & ribbon to liven it up. I can't dcide on whether or not to take them out of their packaging & just labeling them with a label or not.

I don't have any storage solutions for you because I keep mine in a dollar store basket. lol
But I don't like to keep the CB folders in the original packaging because it takes up room I can't spare so I take a thin Sharpie and on the back of the folder, I write the name of the folder and any item number - just in case. HTH!

I bought a decorative photo stoage box from JoAnn's. I have my embossing folders and texture plates in there. I also keep the embossing plates for my Boutique and the texture mats for the Big Shot in there too. After all, if I am using a folder or plate, the mats should be handy.
I do keep the borders in the original packaging, but I just got rid of the rest because I made a swatch ring. Embossing Folder Sampler by Pendant23 at Splitcoaststampers So much easier ti decide which to use than flipping through the actual folders.
I have an old Crop In Style Sticker binder that I re-purposed for my die cuts and embossing folders.
I now store my spellbinders (on cut up magnet sheets) in one section, my sizzlets are in baseball card pages, my embossing folders are in 5x7 photo pages (2 on one page) and my 12" sizzlets are in the old sticker holders.
I also keep my gold, dry embossing folders in it.
Everything is organized by theme. It zips closed so it travels well and I have room to grow!
I keep my texture plates standing up in a plastic CD case next to my Big Shot. And my original Sizzix in a sizzix tower I bought second hand.

I store my CB folders in a CD book with a zipper on it , I also have my spellbinder dies in the CD folders with a piece of cardboard with a 3 strips of magnets on each , I can store CB, Spellbinders, and Sizzix folders in the CD pages and they don't fall out and this way I can take them all with me if I need to ( each book holds 200 ) and then for my smaller CB,Sizzix folders and die cuts I use the pages that the kids stored their pokamon (sp) cards in , now that all 4 of them are grown youngest turns 19 next month they were throwing them all out and I grabed them from the trash. How dare they throw these useful things out, They hate for me to be around when they throw something out because I can always find a use for something ,The cardboad I use comes from my other sons comic books , it works great for "clipboard" and the spellbinders. Right now I have two CD 200 page books and they fit great on a shelf.

It sounds like it works the same as the Crop in style binder! It's what I thought of once I out grow the binder I have now! Great idea!

I store all embossing folders in a HPH tin. I had to find a plase to 'contain' them since I have a few CB Boarders embossind folders (because they are tiny). In addition to just a tin, I have all the Bigz dies and BS Texture Plates (and etc) in lined baskets. I found these awesome baskets for only $3 each and the Bigz fit in them perfectly. I have the whole Serif Alpha set in 1 plus the HPH tin, Texplates and accessories! Easy to see, easy to grab.
