Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but they changed that around. Now it's just crop night. You pay $5, get it back to spend that night, but no dinner. (I don't know WHO was clamoring for that change, but whatever.) Which isn't to say we couldn't still get together for dinner (maybe Archiver's will let us have something delivered!) and a crop, just that all Archiver's is gonna give us is tables.
Well pooh! I imagine we could really go just about any time they aren't running a class then, couldn't we? If they aren't up for something being delivered (although that's what they did with the pizza, right?) there are plenty of fun places close by to grab a bite (and an adult beverage ...lol!). We can bring our own stinkin door prizes!

I would be open for November too--how about Saturday, the 20th? That is the weekend of the stamp show in Madison and I think I will do the Friday Night Make and Take Market. If we plan for something on the 20th, I would stay over night on Friday to play with all of you on Saturday during the day. I like the technique swap like we did before. Archivers works or maybe the LSS on the east side by Jean. Like 10-4 or 6 would be fun. I wonder if we can still use Archivers--we could be done by 4:00 or so, before they start their crop night at 5.

Who'd be up for a technique swap in Madison in early November? OR we could do an Archivers scrap night (I'll go look up the link for that, unless Emily beats me to it. We went to one of those, it was a lot of fun. No surprise, I couldn't last the whole night, but it was fun while I lasted. )

I could give Archiver's a call and ask about having the back from 10-4. (They may not let us book so far out-- they don't even have their October calendar up yet-- but on the other hand, that's just before the holiday so maybe they won't be booking classes.) But we could do that, maybe have some snacks only while we're there, and then have an early dinner.

For anyone interested in stamping/scrapbooking for a worthy cause, October 22nd & 23rd there will be a Scrap Family Violence event to benefit Harbor House. Harbor House is the domestic violence shelter for Calumet and Outagamie counties. About 95% of the donations they receive goes to benefit the clients.
Jumping in as another Madisonian who may be up for some group stamping at some point (I don't know whether the 2nd or 20th would work, but at least I'm subbing!).
The Madison Capitol City Crafters meetup group uses Archiver's on weeknights 2x a month for free. People will bring Subway and that sort of thing occasionally, but otherwise we just use one of the back workspace areas and coordinate around any classes they're doing. I think we do enough damage to our pocketbooks that charging any rental fee on top of our purchases is too much.

Fun! Are you a full group or would you consider adding a stamper or two?

Just thought I would check in to say that the Archiver's manager was out all week. I left a message for her and they said she should call me back next week by Wednesday.
If anyone is interested.

WOW it's quiet out here - hey CURDS, what's everyone doin? I had bunion surgery so I've been spending lots of time in the house but ready to get out and limp around enough to cut some cardstock and get creative!
Has anyone stamped on canvas boards? I saw something at a scrapbook store and should have taken a photo of it but I didn't. Now I'm trying to remember what they had done on it so I can make one. I'm guessing it'll have to be craft ink but if anyone has tried this, please share your ideas!
I wish I knew all these people when I lived up there!
I know. When we lived in Rhinelander (for about three years), even though the folk were some of the most friendly I've ever met, it wasn't easy to really 'meet' people. (showing my age here, it was the early 80's, the P in PC hadn't been invented yet. And the net ... well let's just say it would be a few years down the road before you could use it without learning a foreign language.)
Isn't the net (and a place like SCS) amazing?! I've met so many interesting people through this place (like you, Ms. Em! ).

we've emailed one another but as far as I know we haven't met yet.
That is so fun! Sort of a 'secret stamp neighbor' at this point. Enjoy the 'reveal' if/when that happens!

I have stamped on canvas boards and have loved my results. I have used several types of ink; SU Classic, Archival Pigment, chaulks and water colors. I haven't tried the brayered technique, but I bet it would be great.
Take care of yourself and get well.

It sure seems as if a lot of people are dealing with some serious health issues lately.
meluvstampin is one who's family is going through some challenges
Melv and dianevey are two others.
Hope everyone starts taking care of themselves and safely recover from all health and injury issues.
I thank everyone for the thoughts and prayers you've sent my way. Things appear to be looking up. Still job searching, but health and family are all doing much better.

Awwww ... Robyn, that is so sweet. Back at you girl! (Now, if I knew how to do the 'group hug' smilie, what a perfect place for it!)
Diane, Robyn ... I'm not sure if I've ever seen this canvas board. If either of you can pop one up here, that'd be great. How does it get used?

Your'e event sounds like so much fun. I however cannot make it I will be on a 2 day road rally. Have had it planned for 3 months. It would have been fun and so close. Hope you have a good turn out and count me in on the next event. Hope to see you soon.
I am holding this even if it is just jeaniebean55 and myself. We would love to have others joint us.
Please pm and let me know if you can make it by Saturday, 9/25/2010.

BUT, I'm not sure that I can that day! Since we are bringing our own stuff to work on, can't you give us a little more time to get stuff together for the RSVP??? The reason I haven't responded just yet, is because I have a HUGE fundraiser for my doxie rescue group this weekend, and I can't even THINK about the following weekend yet!!! A lot will depend on how much stuff I get done during this week and the beginning of next week! If I am at crunch time, and just have to go for broke, then I will probably have to stay home and finish a LARGE swap that is due. If I get a lot done on it or at least planned out, then I can probably pack it up and finish working on it with everyone(or just the 2 of you;o)!!! I also have another event for WCD on the east coast of WI on Sunday. That is a 40 card workshop, so I won't be able to work on my recipe card swap at that event.
I'd be able to let you know Thursday or Friday, the latest!
Jane

Just wanted to let you know that I won't be able to come. Too much stuff going on the rest of this month, and all of October. Elaine
Elaine! How is that new grandbaby?

Say jmr1957, I'm (casually) looking at condos in the Milw area ... do you know anything about The Cloisters?

I set the deadline for 9/25 to give us time to finalize food. Don't want too much or not enough. However, anyone is still welcome at the last minute (Jane). Just let me know as soon you know that you can make it.
(I live too far from any food delivery service and didn't want to leave everyone to go and pick up food. If push comes to shove, there is a saloon in town that serves good hamburgers that we could order from.)
I have the building for the entire day so I can open at 8 and stay open later.

Hey Jeanie --The Cloister's - the area is very close to shopping and restaurants and about 6 blocks to hwy 894. The area is very nice neighborhood wise. I don't know about the condo's themselves, but the landscape and layout look really nice. I'd be tempted if I was looking.
